remodelling the kitchen - what to put above a gas range

Hi - I am remodelling my kitchen. I will be removing a peninsula and putting a gas range in between two windows. There will be 2 sets of cupboards to the left of the left window when complete and a peninsula on that side of the kitchen. My question is, what do i put above the 30" gas range? Should i put a microwave? a hood fan? a covered hood fan? A range hood with cupboards above? There is ~55" between the two windows. The bulk head will be removed. On the second photo, the wall will be removed to open up to the family room. Any advice, all advice is appreciated!

what look do you want? there are multiple ways to do it.

if you have another place for the micro, do that. microwaves are horrible at venting.

So, look at pics and decide which look you prefer and what would go best w/your new design

Can you post a layout? You‘re going to remove the window and replace with a wall, correct?

Ideally I'd go with a range hood without a cabinet above to keep the space more open and uncluttered in that fairly tight space. (It already looks sorta 'crowded' with the existing cabinet there). Just make sure the bottom of the hood is a minimum 30" above the cooking surface (code minimum in most places).

Definitely a hood and no microwave - a "real" hood.

Whichever vent style you decide on ensure that it has the proper CFM's to remove the fumes/heat from the gas stove. OTR Microwaves usually do not have sufficient CMF's for a gas stove. If you speak to an appliance sales person they can certainly help you find the proper unit for the remodel. Good luck!
