Suggest you could switch the tall dresser with the short one, then you aren't faced

with side of dresser when you walk in. You could also angle the bed in the corner,

but there wouldn't be room for night tables. Perhaps give them a try and see how you like it.

would the tall dresser fit between the closet & door?

if so I would put the bed on the 16foot wall closer to or as close as you can get to the window side

Move the short dresser to the wall where the tall one is currently and see how much space you have for a small comfortable chair in the corner - maybe get a nice rug for the open floor space you are left with.

We have a very similar bedroom in the house and its frustrating getting it to look right and function well at the same time.

The window locations are your biggest problem with furniture placement. The bed will always be off center blocking part of one. Could you post a picture of the closet wall? I like having a bench at the foot of the bed. You need 2 night tables, if anything get bigger ones. Can the tall dresser fit on the closet wall? Move the short dresser to the wall the tall one is on. You could also center the bed on the longest wall with the short dresser under the other window or in the same spot as it is now doing double duty as a night table. leave the wall directly in front of the door empty. Tall dresser on the closet wall. Maybe you could add drapery that extends further on one side that when closed makes the window behind the bed look centered but open only the drapes in front of the window for maximum natural light. I would only add enough to center the bed on the wall not the whole wall. Keep the blinds for maximum darkness when sleeping. I like dressers as night tables, a bench at end of bed and blackout drapes but no tv in bedroom. Add nice 3x5 area rugs either side of bed for some color and plush

I think everyone's ideas are worth trying. Before moving the furniture around, put floor protectors like these under the legs. I wonder how the bed would look in the corner as Anglophilia suggested. For light, two lamps could be placed on each side of a console table situated behind the bed. Draperies like Cheryl suggested would eliminate the awkwardness of the location of the windows. I am looking forward to hearing more as you make progress in the bedroom.

Here is a layout thats been suggested. I also like the idea of adding drapes behind your bed. I would also have the larger nightstand moved closer to the bed. I would also get rid of the other nightstand and replace with a small round table.

seeing those additional picture I'm going to guess there maybe only 2 or so feet from the corner of the wall to the vent which means the tall dresser would go over it. I might try this layout and move the tall dresser next to the window and place a bench on that wall. A bench wouldnt obstruct the vent and you could have a little place to sit and that wall wouldnt feel bare. And I do think a rug would be great to add some warmth to the room as well as the drapes.

One last question: we are interested in keeping the bed layout and switching the two dressers. The one issue is that there is a large mirror that will go over the dresser that would be facing the bed. Is this a big design/feng shui faux pas? Once again I appreciate all of your comments and advice!!

It really isn't the best feng shui, but even if you don't believe in that, you can try it and change it if it doesn't work. You don't have the mirror above it in your pictures. Would it be possible to not use it or use it alone hanging on the closet wall? Mirrors are okay just not directly across from a bed. Some things you can't change though. the previous owners of our new house mounted a full length mirror inside the door of our master. I planned on moving it to the bath door, but they glued it on. We ended up swapping doors because it would have been in line with the bed and really did bother me. Being across from the entry door is also a no no but we couldn't change that. We added a large chest at the end of the bed to block the energy and close the door when we are sleeping. Please post pictures of your progress
