My dad (a life-long DIYer who has finished two basements) is helping me repair the existing drop ceiling in our basement. In one section, the grid was sagging a bit and when we removed the tiles, we learned that pipes gave barely any clearance. My dad seemed to think they had settled over time (the house is 30 years old). Anyway, we could barely get the old tiles out. His plan is to buy new clips and raise the pipes level in that section. This makes me nervous because I picture our basement flooding or something. Is it worth calling a professional or just feeding the new tiles in the way we got the old out???
