Wow, Latifolia, that is a stunning quilt. How large are your HSTs?

Each block is a bit under 3” finished. I had over cut for an Editya Sitar quilt pattern and started with the leftover triangles (small hst).

It's beautiful! Isn't it nice to be able to use pieces you already have.

Latifolia, It's a great feeling using those extra triangles, isn't it. The 4-patch HSTs gives this an oomph! I really like it! I've been working with HST's, too and have 9 - 12 1/2" blocks made.......similar to this.....but each block has the HSTs in different places. At least that was my aim. lol Based on a quilt from WeddingDressBlue.

Theresa, LOL I still have quite a few small triangles left, but lately I'm wondering if I could make myself start tossing them. lol

Sharon, the pattern I made is a great scrap buster. Just pick a size and cut all your triangles to that size. Pair a dark and light.

I then sewed them into groups of four with no repeating fabrics. That made it easier to lay them out, balancing the colors, patterns, etc.

I quilted it in the ditch on my domestic machine. Being a cheapskate, I pieced the batting from the bits trimmed from the large quilts I had long-armed.

That's a wonderful quilt and so razor-sharp in the overall look.

That is amazing and very time consuming. I've been working with small squares lately and that's bad enough. I won't even make things out of triangles anymore.

I also piece batting, but only large enough pieces. I use smaller batting scraps for machine quilting practice squares. I prefer to call it frugal though, lol.

Lovely lovely quilt! Quilting brings so many thing together - an eye for color, putting prints together in an aesthetic fashion, meticulous stitching, patience - the list can go on. My gran used to do it and there were times when grandpa actually helped with the cutting. My aunt started one recently and her granddaughter helps out. Its something worth passing on to the next generation she always says. She got her college going helper some homework help for her birthday in return for the help that is extended so generously. She's also working on a secret quilt she plans to give her granddaughter when she passes out of college. I just sit and watch them work together when I'm visiting. There's a sense of camaraderie between them which I really enjoy!
