Need appliance advice

I was here many many years ago when we did a major remodel back in 2002. Then I was looking at Wolf and Miele and Viking and Dacor, etc.

Now I find myself doing a much lower level kitchen remodel in a much smaller retirement home. And I don't want to spend that kind of money. But the brands have changed and I know nothing anymore. So any advice would be appreciated.

All I need (I think) is a gas range (and no I'm not getting induction, don't bother going there) and I'm willing to go $1500 to $2000. And an OTR microwave (yes, and I hate them as well, but this is a small kitchen), vented to the outside.

So, with that in mind, any brands to recommend or avoid? Is it safe to buy from Sears (and I don't do extended warranties, either)?

Many years ago, GE was reviled, but the cooking products were usually okay. I have followed laundry appliance discussions, and fear the reputations of LG and Samsung, so I bought Speed Queen.

Now I feel lost.

Thanks for any help.
