I like the drapes. It makes the room feel taller and more updated. I might be biased though because I do not care for valances, they're too dated IMO.

I like the drapes and the wall color as is. You could add the valance, but you do not need it. One suggestion I would like to make is to consider changing the chandelier shades to ivory. I think the red is distracting.

I agree with Jamie Ludwig, do both. I too like the paint color you have.

Looks better without the shades on the chandelier. I like the drapes and no valance. I think a valance would be too much and a little dated. I might remove the bulletin board since you have lots of nice art to look at.

Not sure if the wall the chest is on is the same size or smaller than the adjacent (bulletin board) wall, but it might be nice to move it to that wall and center it. Any easy try.

Have you ever tried the bed cornered where the chest, mirror and bulletin board are? Seems it would be more welcoming.

Uhm,,,hadn’t thought on angling bed... it’s a thought.... but side tables would be awkward.

Not a pro but I like the changes you have made. I know that I would hate a bed in the corner. It is nicely placed where it is with views to both windows.

You could store your valances to use when styles come back around. Leave the paint. Nice room.

No, they aren’t dated at all....I actually sell and suggest them all the time. They are a great way to get a polished, finished look with color. I guess they could look kind of dated depending on the fabric, but in general no :-). This room was tight for drapery so we did a luxe linen honeycomb for privacy and then these beautiful cornices for color and style. :-)

Kimber, can I leave the rods and glass finials... and eould you suggest straight or gathered valance?

If given the choice, I'd probably go w/a board mounted cornice, like I have in the pic, but can you show a pic of the top of the valance where you have the fabric flat on the left and gathered on the right. I just need to see the top.

Here is the top currently.. valance should actually be threaded in lower section... and I would lower rod so it doesn’t hit the ceiling. I made these valances originally from a duvet cover.

Def straight! The ruffle look is "old fashioned" but I think you can get away with the flat/straight look, but board mounted would be my first choice especially since you seem crafty, if you didn't want to buy them :-). More structured look.

Ok straight, like it is or threaded on lower section, keeping all flat? It would then have a 2” flat ‘header’ avove the rod... I would lower rod a bit to accommodate. Ok to keep rods and finials?
