Be sure to use obscured glass, at least in the lower part. It's a good idea. Great ventilation and natural light in a room that usually a dark pit.

I'm going to say nah, if there are any adjacent neighbors who could see it, even through obscured glass. Ours makes a visible shadow that our neighbors can see from their dining room. Lovely.

And we very, very rarely open it (top down) for fresh air, mainly because of sound.

Depends on what's on the other side of the window.

Since this is tagged as remodelling, are you trying to decide whether to add a window that doesn't exist? Or remove a window that's already there? I don't think there's enough pros or cons to warrant the cost of adding or removing a window. Just make do with what's there.

Or is this something that is being built from scratch?
