I've been buying it in 40 lb. bags at my feed store. Agricultural places have had it for

several years. Not cheap like it used to be- now $16-18./bag.

Tractor Supply has it. I saw a few bags when I was there this weekend.

I can see why ag places would have it, because the phosphorous rule only seems to apply to home use, since they FINALLY admitted that ll the fertilizer & chemicals from lawns and golf courses are what is leaching into the groundwater & washing into waterways and causing red tide. They were blaming the farmers, and it made me so mad, because all the farms in FL don't put as much crap into the water system as property owners do, especially in deed restricted communities where the ground crews dump tons of the stuff every year.

Found it at ace hardware but boy was it expensive

All fertilizer is expensive! I went looking for some store-brand timed-release bloom fertilizer the other day. I was APPALLED at the price -- $12 for a container smaller than the one I used to get at $7. Gardening is getting to be an expensive proposition. I'll just stick to my liquid fertilizers for now. A little more money, but much cheaper.

You can buy Nutricote in bulk on eBay, but it's for shrubs, not blooming plants. That's what most nurseries use. It's not cheap, but you can buy it by the pound. Here's a link for the 14-14-14, which is the best all-purpose type I've ever used. The smaller packages are a bit hight, but 8 lbs. is only $40, which is less than half price of buying it in 1 lb. packs. If you could find a neighbor to share it with, or have a dry place to store it, that would be a great deal. Since Scott's makes it, you can also ask Lowe's or Home Depot to order it for you. Don't know what their price would be, but they may even be cheaper. They'll tell you what the price is before they order it.

Here's the Osmocote 14-14-14 8 lbs. for $28.05 with free shipping. The difference between Osmocote and Nutricote is that Osmocote is released whenever it gets wet, but Nutrocote only releases at temperatures above 70 F. That makes Nutricote really good for winter and early spring planting.
