I love the space and the wood trim - Just not the peachy wall color...

I think roman shades would be great in this room- and upholstered dining chairs in a coordinating fabric would be great as well, but I wouldn't necessarily do a rug unless it's a very large round one.

I'd also get a beefier light fixture - the one here is seems lost in the volume of space.

I would paint the trim. Go with a weighter piece of furniture like a stone top table.

Yes, a light fixture too! But one like a chandelier (not elaborate) so it doesn't close up the space, but weighty somehow. Thanks! I am definitely painting the trim., and bepsf, your right, the peach colour has to go. I have seen stone top tables in magazines, but where the heck would i buy one?

Cool space! LOVE the old world light fixture - get that! Consider placing a couple of rustic benches under each of the side windows. West Elm just came out w/ a cool one - the Emmerson dining bench. Cozy them up w/ some soft pillows. Good luck!

Also, I really like the bench idea. I was wishing the windows were a bit higher so i could make a banquet, but that's ok. I'm so glad i sent this in! thank you all!

If you want to warm up the room, why are you painting the trim?

The whole house has this oak trim and the windows have white mullions. If the whole window was wood, it would be gorgeous and i wouldn't be painting them out. It looks disjointed somehow... I think if i paint the trim a cream white throughout the house, and in this room, the walls a soft puddy, put up some roman shades and get the wood table, lighting fixture and other accessories mentioned above, the room will have a nice warm feel.

1130, the Emerson bench is beautiful. I live in Canada and they dont ship here, so my next trip to the states to shop, I'll have to see if there is a West Elm near by! (and a Harden... beautiful!!)

My two cents - do some traditional chairs with leather seats, fabric backs (a beautiful print) and nailheads. I disagree with the anti-rug people - I think you need a rug, large and round. There is hardwood throughout and stone - you need softening. Agree, paint the trim. Agree with roman shades in a nice printed fabric. Definitely you need a full-scale chandelier- maybe wrought iron or just bronze toned would be nice to go with brass nailheads. Consider maybe a stone or glass top to the table (I find it more practical that wood for a breakfast nook). If you want a wooden table, I would recommend you look at Century Furniture - they have some beautifully worked, textured table tops.

That is almost the same as MY Table and Chairs. I ordered from Harden Furniture had a 16 week wait, it was an investment.... but the set is over 10 years old and still looks great---and it never will go out of style!

Harden's a great brand - but I do find them pricey for many clients... Century's not cheap but great quality too. Hickory also has some fabulous round dining tables with interesting tops. For a retail brand, Arhaus has some great tables with copper and other tops.

Thank you for the fabulous input! If i could take that picture and put it in the room, I'd be very happy!! I was thinking wood as the table the current owner have is glass top and i feel it gets lost in the space. I will definitely check out Hickory and Century too. Lots of fun!
