I like the wall color. I dont think that is what is throwing the room off. Its the bedding. Either find a bedding that will look good with the existing wall color, or find a bedding, you really love, and pull a color for the walls from the bedding itself.

I also think the walls are fine. Try bedside lamps with deeper blue bases and white shades. Then add blue pillows and a throw to the bed. Small things like that can make a big difference.

I did not find Patricia's bedding, but I got similar one and Judy's lamp. What we got here

Paint color is okay, but it doesn't strike a home run with the taupe/greige bed. A soft green / blue green will look better with the pink undertones in the bed. The taupe also makes anything that is a muddy beige like the lamp shades look dirty. You can use very light, clean creams or white, but no beige.

I agree with you about the color. It's just not jiving with your furniture. Perhaps, celerygirl can give you more visuals of different colors.

The item that doesn't work in the room is the carpeting. I'd get a patterned area rug or wall to wall sea grass. Then add some fun and lively bedding. All taupe/greige is not very interesting or attractive. After you select the bedding, then repaint the walls if necessary.

If you go with one of these rugs, then select plain bedding with some decorative pillows:

Really like Celerygirl's most recent mock-up. Very pretty! Diana Bier's ideas are fantastic as well. My suggestion: lighten your window treatments (the colour of your bed upholstery) and get them on rings for a more traditional touch in tune with your bed. That would be a lovely finishing touch, imo. I wouldn't paint - your wall colour is beautiful and blue has been shown to be the most restful bedroom colour (or so I read somewhere on the Internet. :P)

I agree with Diana Bier on the rug; rather dark and drab. I don’t hate the wall color but I’m not in love either. I would like to see a very soft, moody mauve with that bed. A taupe with a purple undertone.

I then think it becomes easier to choose bedding as the pure whites and blues don’t seem quite right for this bed.

Lamp ideas

I’m not much for bedding sets. A mix of fine sheets and duvet cover, pillow slips and euro shams and then an accent of special pillows such as these Callisto home .

I'm partial to blue walls but your suggestions are just lovely, lynartist!!
