Need Storage Design Advice

So we put an offer on this wonderful little cottage today.. Only problem is that it's basically a story and a half.. This would be our bedroom, it has knee height walls. My boyfriend is 6'1" and the only place he can stand is the middle of the room. We have a king size bed that my boyfriend is not willing to give up, and it'll fit fine, but my issue is clothing storage. There are no closets in this house. I was thinking of building either shelves or a chest that stretched across the left side.. Need some ideas for clothes! I don't want dressers because I feel like they'll take up too much space.

Consider hiring a cabinet maker to install drawer storage on the left wall for clothing that can be folded. You might place the king bed angled in that area on the right where there seems to be a stain on the floor. He won't want to stand up in the bed but will still be able to use the center floorspace for dressing and for moving through the room.

Very cute house! I think you’re best choice is custom cabinetry that fits under the slope along the wall.

When you have the money I would consider adding a dormer the whole length of the totally sloped wall Or which side will give you the best view. Plan a bath at the same time Even if you can only fit a half bath. But in the meantime place your bed on the knee height wall to keep the tallest part of the room open for walking. You don't need walking room at the head of the bed and night tables will take up some of the space. You might have a problem getting a king size bed up the stairs. You can store out of season clothes in boxes behind a hanging rack of current clothing in the triangle sloped wall

You might consider useing a bedroom downstairs as a master and making this an all purpose room. Office, guest, tv, craft. I think it would be hard for a person 6 ft tall to use this every night. You don't say but I would guess it has 2 bedrooms on the main level. Take the largest as your master, the smaller as a walk in closet. making the main floor your master suite. It's okay if you can only fit the king bed and night tables in the room as everything else can be in the other room. Then the Upstairs for guests And all the storage you don't have downstairs.

That spears to be an illegally converted attic that is not up to residential building code standards. You're buying a pig in a poke and who knows what kind of trouble if you move forward.
