Here is a picture of the baby African Violet. How moist should I keep the soil?

I included in the picture a view of my recently rescued aloe. Not sure of the variety. A major store was selling out their holiday plants, kept under atrocious conditions for a living plant. Their claim to fame was that they were potted in a Santa pot. As I discovered when I repotted my 2 rescues, there was NO soil in the Santa pots, just a ball of roots thinly covered by some ornamental green moss. The aloe and a cute little Haworthia limifolia are doing quite well right next to the African violet.

Hi so your pot is way too big, that poor fellow does not have enough roots to fill that pot and that can lead it to bing too wet. I eould remove it to a way smaller pot so the roots can grow better. Velleta

Also lose the decorative rocks, they interfere with soil drying as well as oxygen exchange to the roots.
