klhardin: I don't want to throw an option back into the mix if you are already happy with your decision, but let me say that it is possible (not easy, but possible) to get a good match for an older wood floor. We had a parallel situation, building an addition onto a house from the 1920's with 90 year old wood floors throughout. Our addition is continuous with the kitchen, so the wood floors needed to match. But we didn't want to refinish the floors in the whole house because after 90 years our floors have only one or at most two full sandings left in them, so we wanted to save those for the future when the floors actually needed it. So our contractor brought in a wood flooring specialist who identified exactly what type of wood we had (white oak) and tried out a number of different stains on the new boards until he found a match that we approved and everyone was satisfied would blend. So while you can definitely tell that the old boards have more shrinkage between them, the new boards are a very good match in color, finish, and grain. The picture below shows the place where they meet (upper half= 90 year old floor, last refinished 15-20 years ago; lower half= 5 year old floor). We've been very happy with this solution, so at least don't take it completely off the table if wood would indeed be your first choice.
