Kitchen Accents

Trying to add some color to my kitchen since there's a lot of grey and white. Don't really think any of these items go together so looking for suggestions on what to fill these canisters with. Doesn't need to be anything functional...just purely decoration. The island always has 2 bowls of lemons and oranges but that's pretty much the only color right now.

For decoration, add a piece of art on the wall.

Colorful functional items will look much better than ones that are purely decorative. Decorative stuff just clutters up a kitchen,

Lean a beautiful colorful tray against the backsplash, as mentioned above, add a colorful teapot on the counter, or a couple of colorful storage canisters.

Personally, I love neutrals. You chose the grays and whites because you like them. I can see white and gray accessories. I agree to useable items. I love neutrals.

I agree with canisters and fruit bowls as a way to bring in color, if you want to.

niczab, slightly off topic, but is that countertop marble or quartz? We're thinking of doing the same thing to our kitchen. Would love to see a larger picture of your kitchen if you are okay with that. If not, do you know the name of the stone?

    Thanks,

    Jo

I think those glass jars just fade so all you see is the inside and to me it looks strange to see the balls and straws sort of floating off the countertops. It would help to see the rest of your kitchen. I always think a few well placed nice appliances look good (i.e. kitchen aide mixer in your favorite color) or a good stainless coffee maker.

I think the glass jars are very pretty, but will be magnets for any dust from flour or paper towels. Are you looking for more warmth? You could use a beautiful wooden tray or cutting board as a warm neutral in that space. I keep my coffee grinder & coffee canister on a reclaimed wood cheese board, for instance. I love the board & don't really want to use it for cheese platters, and this way it stays visible.

Those soft neutral greys would be pretty combined with gentle sky blues and aquas, IMO. Grey and white are cloud colors, after all.

I like the natural green of plants as well.

I don’t like the look of the candy but I love the terrarium. I would bring in natural colors or fill a jar with dry pasta in a cute shape like rotini. An orchid would be pretty.

Those three glass bowls are too small for the space and they're all the same size visually. You need something larger to fill the space

@jojoco It's quartzite. I don't know the name though. Here is a larger picture. I love it. Very easy to maintain as well.

Here's what I had in the corner at one time. Silver trays are beautiful in kitchens. If you use an apothecary jar put something kitchen related inside.

I cannot get a photo into this topic! Sorry. I used a vintage silver tray with vintage glassware on top. I'll try again later.
