IME, P. l. rarely branches unless its tip is damaged (usually due to frost/freeze), which can make for a great-looking plant having multiple growing tips.

Mine branched out from the base - not the sides.

Lars, can we see a pic of it when you get a chance? That's an oddball plant that does that.

Well, for one, this is an indoor plant, well insulated, so its not likely that frost damage has occurred. 2, i suspected that its geayii initially, but now im more inclined to believe lamerei.

And here is a pic of my young one some time ago as well. The branching has not progressed much since but so did the whole plant as I neglected it under too much sun/little water at a young age. Will try to give it a kick this spring...
