Hey Laura, I'm not sure if that's what SF did but I've seen pruning of p. lamarei and p. decaryi to promote branching.

these are not mine but certainly worth sharing. They have a yellow flower and of course they are now dormant.

Thank you, Kara....I have a P. lamerei the same size in the front yard also. These babies are in the ground and fend for themselves. If limbs freeze, they heal and form more. Same for my desert roses.... Ive seen lots of pachys grown in the ground down here.

It branched all by itself.

A couple of younglings just to further stress branching occurring by itself even on very young P lamerei. See 2 tiny branches pointing at the base of this one :)

Not mine, but like an old friend at nearby Rotary Park. The big one on the right was taken out by the big Euphorbia, most of which was blown down by Hurricane Irma. For scale, the fence is 6 feet tall.
