DH always gets me a few garden books for Christmas. I'm just getting around to reading them. Yesterday I finished 'The Story of the English Garden', published in 2018. It was a fun read! Since I've read lots of books on garden history, there was nothing very new in the basic story line. But this is not a dry, academic history.... :-) There is an emphasis on quirky bits of information and the writing is quite amusing. (I kept reading out the funny/quirky bits to DH - he's a willing garden helper and supports my gardening interest but would never read a gardening book! He enjoyed the bits I read to him....) The individual sections are fairly short and there are lots of pictures. It's easy to pick up and put down again after a short read.
