I have narrowed the windows for our new construction down to two...Andersen 100s or Integrity all Ultrex from Marvin. We will have casement and fixed windows. I have not gotten the bid on the Andersen's yet but I am assuming it will be cheaper. However, our exterior walls are 2x6 and it is my understanding that the 100s do not come with extension jams. Therefore our contractor will have to build them out which in turn will add to the cost of the 100s. Another thing with the Andersen's is that the casement and fixed window exteriors are not the same. My two concerns with the all Ultrex is how the corners are put together and how the bronze exterior finish on the Ultrex will hold up over time with direct sunlight. Does anyone have experience good or bad with either window?
