Mixing floor materials

I am planning on replacing the flooring in my foyer, kitchen and family. currenty The foyer and kitchen has tile and family room has carpet (the kitchen and family room are cnnected). My dilemma is that I currently have Brazilian Cherry hardwood flooring in my living rooom which is open to foyer ( currenty tiled). I would like one type of flooring throughout but it is impossible to match the Brazilian Cherry floor, so do I tried to match the woods as best I can or just go with a completely new look in the foyer, kitchen and family room. My one major concern is that I do not want tile in my Family Room.

Any my suggestions would be most welcomed .

Do a sand on site Brazilian cherry, and match what you already have. Or give UP the Brazilian cherry, and get to one hardwood.. Or Refinish the existing Brazilian cherry.

Don't mix woods. The fewer flooring changes, the better.

Personally? I wouldn't have Brazilian cherry in a kitchen. Very red.....and every speck of crumbs or dust magnified. : ) But that's me.

You have a few options

-Go for a completely different style floor than the brazilian cherry, which means a tile. No other wood will really work well with it

-Sand on site, installing more cherry to match what's already there

-Replace all the flooring with new hardwood.

The last option would be my vote. Brazilian cherry is beautiful, but hard to work with. It's also only in one room, so shouldn't be too costly to replace. It's probably be cheaper than trying to match it.
