One more/ Then again- maybe magnesium?

What is the soil medium? How long since it has been repotted? Where is the plant growing -- outdoors? indoors? Does it go out in summer? How long have you had it? Do you feed it on a regular basis?

Have only had a few weeks. From 4 Winds. Mottling was there a bit when I received but getting worse. Potted in 511, Reptibark/potting soil/perlite. Grow indoors. Fed it 1/2 strength Osmocote Plus when I got it. Watered with rainwater and kept moist.

Well then Mg it must be Laura, and will assume that once I start fertilizing regularly it will resolve itself. Thanks so much!

The leaves in Nancy's post show the absollute classic symptoms of a manganese deficiency. Green veins with greenboarders along the sides of the viens with yellow between veins. As laura wrote, If the leaves do not clear up on their own, the application of Mangnese sulfate either as a foliar spray or applied to the soil will solve the deficiency.

O.J, do recommend any kind of sulfate and will applying it at this time of the year help although not in optimal conditions?

Laura is right. A few of mines will look like that by the time they go out, but once the sunny warm consistent days are here, all those problems correct themselves on my trees with the right fertilizer program and the residual fertilizer my containers still have during the winter months.

Thanks OJ and Mike. But unfortunately I'm the lady who lives on the Oregon coast in the fog in and 60mph wind all year round, especially in summer. I grow indoors under T5HO year round. I can bump up their light earlier than usual and see if that helps. Nothing else looks like this though. I'll give it some mag sulfate if more light doesn't help in the next few weeks.

Nancy if mag sulfate in your above posting means magnesium sulfate,, applying magnesium sulfate (epsom salts) will do absolutely nothing to correct a manganese deficiency. Your tree's leaves have a manganese deficiency, not a magnesium deficiency.

The symptoms as manifested in a leaf of Mn and Mg deficiencies (according to Silica) are identical except in whether or not they occur on a new or an old leaf. The way it was explained to me is the Mg is transferred by the plant from the old leaves to the new leaves, since they take priority. Mn is NOT transferable and so if the tree is Mn deficient, it shows up in the new leaves. Does that make sense? Maybe Silica will chime in and explain it better. So Nancy needs to evaluate whether the leaves that show this are old or new to determine which it is.

Laura is generally correct, however the symptoms manifested in a citrus leaf with Mn and Mg deficiencies are not identical. A magnesium deficient leaf shows the symptom of a green delta (triangle) shape on the bottom center of the leaf pointing up to approximately the leaf's middle on an otherwise yellow leaf surface, As written above, a manganese deficient leaf symptom shows a leaf with green veins with dark green boarders on both sides the vein, as shown in Nancy's. photo . Again Laura is correct in stating that magnesium deficient symptoms appear on the older leaves, while manganese symptoms show on the newer leaves. However, in Nancy's trees case, the tree is so small that the manganese deficiency is showing generally throughout most of her tree. Also stated by Laura and Mike, Nancy's tree might cure the manganese deficiency on its own without Nancy doing tany reatment. If it does not, than a foliar or root applied manganese sulfate solution will cure the tree.
