Thanks George! I will certainly keep you in mind when the time comes! : ) What is the name of that turf in the video - the one with mossy looking in-betweens? And which would you say is the most natural looking in your range?

That's our Olive Lush ... for me and my money, I went with Nutmeg thatch.
All of our turf, rest assured, uses the same unmatched backing - so no matter what you choose, you'll benefit from our superior drainage :)

Thanks George! It's now recorded in my Renovation Source Book! It is truly appreciated. I had a look through your website and photos on Houzz even before you replied and I was veering towards the Nutmeg thatch LUSH too! We're just at the beginning stage of our renovation project. It's all about house design plans right now. Landscaping will soon come!

I also think the turf is great. Are there any dealers in Las Vegas, NV? I love grass but trying to be water smart as well. Any recommended types of turf good for extreme dry and hot weather? Thank-you!

sanneshine, we have a warehouse in Las Vegas at 6435 South Valley View Boulevard, Las Vegas, NV 89118. Call us at 877-796-8873 for more info. For hot, dry weather, I recommend our W Blade-80 ( http://www.globalsynturf.com/products/7/). W-Shape blade is the next generation of Stemgrass. Due to its light-diffusing properties, W-shaped artificial grass leaves retain less heat energy than other types of turf -- it measures 15 degrees cooler than any other synthetic turf on the market -- which prevents overheating on hot summer days.

drmsurendra, Global Syn-Turf is available in India. PM me on here, email us at mail@globalsynturf.com or call us at +1 877-896-8873, and we'll help you get your turf!

Carol, you can use Global Syn-Turf in Ohio; in fact our turf is very popular in that region. (Just as an aside, Ohio is one of the wetter regions in the country, rendering the local grass very green in color. For that reason, our Emerald-80s, whose grains are a deep-green color, are very popular there.) Call us at 877-796-8873 or email us at mail@globalsynturf.com if you'd like more recommendations.

stevechet, I can't answer your first question unfortunately, but regarding your question about pet cleanup: The first thing to do if you have pets is to install ZeoFill, which is an infill that absorbs pet odors. There's not much else you have to do over and above that. Naturally, solid matter will have to be removed manually, but liquid excretions will drain straight through the grass if you have a Global Syn-Turf petgrass, which has augmented permeability. If you don't have ZeoFill, the next best thing you can do is spray the turf down with a hose when necessary and use Simple Green, a degreaser, to remove any pet remnants. There are a plethora of advantages to installing artificial grass if you're a pet owner. They are:
    1. Global Syn-Turf grasses are designed to withstand daily, high-traffic pet usage.
    2. It won’t stain, retain odors, attract ticks, fleas and other pests, and obviates the need for pesticides and fertilizers that are harmful to your pet.
    3. Extremely durable and highly resistant to force -- no more holes in the lawn from your dog's digging.
    4. Requires no maintenance, free up more leisure time for you to enjoy playing with your pet
    5. Creates a comfortable, safe, cushioned surface and environment for pets to train, play and relax.
    6. Global Syn-Turf’s proprietary Flo-Rite-Thru technology augments drainage capacity
    7. No chemicals necessary for cleaning
    8. Antimicrobial and hypoallergenic
    9. Saves water and money
    10. No more muddy paws or sand getting dragged into the home
    11. Invulnerability to chlorine contamination -- your pet can move directly between the pool and the grass and no grass discoloration or death will result

Below is a photo of a canine friend enjoying our grass in California and a video of our state-of-the-art drainage technology. He can't even tell it's not real grass!

what about fire ants? we are considering synthetic turf but are worried about fire ants maintaining residency

  • PRO

Isobel, since fire ants are feeding on plants and animal materials, synthetic grass will minimize ants population on covered areas. Under the top layer of grass, there are layers of compacted drain rock (2.5 inches) and decomposed granite (1.5 inches). It creates a perfect barrier for insects unless they can feed on a rock :). Artificial grass did not intend to be an ultimate anti-ant solution, but it does make the lawn a safer place.

I have been doing quite a bit of research on the Pro's and Con's of artificial vs. real turf. The deciding factor for me is safety and potential health hazard for young children. I have not yet found any information or study that is conclusive on the long term impact of exposure by young children to artificial turf. Hope you can shed some light on this issue.
