Thanks so much. This part of the house was an addition and it was done on the cheap in terms of finishes. We bought the place last year and have been working on it. It didn't need anything major-- just a lot of cosmetic tweaks. Its a labor of love for sure.

Its funny-- I got some really confused responses when I said I was doing a tin ceiling in the bedroom, but wow does it make an impact. Its subtle yet quirky and appropriate for the house. the ceiling has a slope to it and we thought about moving the lighting so that it hung directly over the bed, but I kinda like the dual rustic fixtures. Just adds another little bit of character and interest.

What did you use for the ceiling? At my last house I had hideous dingy acoustic tile on the ceiling, and every night I would dream about replacing it with something resembling a tin ceiling. I looked into anaglypta wallpaper but decided I didn't want to fuss with that. I actually never got around to redoing that room since other areas of the house took precedence. I know they also make plastic tiles that resemble the old tin ceilings. Or did you actually go with something tin? Was it new or antique?

Pinkmountain-- we used American Tin Ceilings. These are actual tin tiles, and the quality is really nice. They have a variety of patterns and finishes-- check them out!

Kate, hah, everyone is an art critic :) As this an Airbnb we aren't using expensive or original pieces as someone could take them and they would be difficult to replace. The artwork is for pops of color. Sorry they don't do it for you but I happen to think they work in the room.

How fun it would be to stay at your AirBnb and wake up looking at that cool ceiling. That style doesn't go with my new house, but maybe someday I will move into a bigger older house and can get it. The best I can hope for in my current house is to splurge on a light medallion some day when I redo the dining room.
