feedback on the Mohawk “Tecwood” line flooring

Is anyone familiar with Mohawk Tecwood line? (“metropolitan chic, studio oak color). It’s engineered wood, but with a MDF core. This line has a special performance technology that makes the wood 40% stronger and more durable to dents etc. We literally banged the sample board with a hammer (both sides of the hammer) and no dents. my husband even forcefully dropped it from 3 feet up and you could barely see a mark.
The floor will be throughout my ranch (besides bedrooms) and in my kitchen. I have a toddler. It was important to pick a floor that could withstand wear and not have to obsessively worry about about dents and scratches.
Some guys on the job site are expressing concern over the MDF core and telling me to pick an engineered product that has wood throughout the center. However, I think then it would not be as durable and defeat the purpose of why I like this floor. ..but what do I know? I don’t want to pick a flooring bc my dishwasher may flood at some point in my life- that would obviously ruin any flooring material. Thoughts? Feedback?

Did you end up installing this product or find any more information on it? I’m looking to install the same product & color!

There was actually a huge issue when the flooring got shipped. The color was vastly different from the sample. I have since learned their quality control is horrible.
I ended up going with Mannington Solid Hickory. It’s amazing. Highly recommend!!!

Thank you for that feedback! I’m actually curious: what was the specific item number/ style & color name? We seem to have similar flooring taste and I felt there weren’t many I liked!

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>I felt the same way!!! The Mohawk here was called “Studio Oak”. When it arrived it was gray with a green hue- it was awful. Thank God the local company I ordered from also agreed and also did not like it.
As for the Mannington floor I went with - Latitude Foundry, color: Weathered Natural. It’s amazinggggg!!!!!

Some photos in my home. It’s a ranch, we did it through the whole house, except for the bathrooms & bedrooms. Even in my daughters playroom. It’s much higher quality than the Mohawk one you were looking at. It’s a matte finish and the character of the hickory hides a lot. I dropped a heavy figurine off my mantle and you barely see the dent.

Thank you!! That is SO helpful!! It looks beautiful! We want it throughout our first floor too, and I just don’t want to regret my decision!

I did so much research and went to so many places. If you go with this one, I promise you will not regret it! We covered 1,700 sq feet with us and I was so worried about the investment and loving it once installed. I annoyed the hell out of the store and took a bazillion samples home. I didn’t think I wanted hickory at first, but it’s actually stronger than oak and the character in it is stunning and hides imperfections. You will love it! Glad I could help. If you’re on Instagram, follow Mannington. They seem like a great company I felt good about purchasing. Good luck!!!

Did you order direct from Mannington or still through a local store? I realize this post is old but I found it when trying to find reviews on Mohawk tecwood. I was about to order 1700 sq ft today and now I’m nervous about doing so based on this post

Emily Hennessy and Shellie D, I just came across this post. Our builder recommended a flooring place that sells TecWood, but I'm scared after reading reviews. What did you end up with?

Our builder is recommending TecWood as well, but I’ve read so many bad reviews. What did you end up going with?
