Chinese junk. Yes they have an American distributor. So does Haier, Fabuwood, TCE Quartz, Barclays sinks, and anything that Signature Hardware sells. It’s all Chinese imports.

If you had to recommend a mid-range appliance brand, which one would it be?

We looked at that, but did not see any consumer info on ranges larger than 36"? We were hoping to get some information on recommendations for 48" ranges from people who have experience with them (good/bad)?

There is no such thing as mid range brand of semi pro appliances. Those all belong solidly in upper end kitchens, in upper end homes. 85 percentile and above. A 48” range also needs 10-15K worth of ventilation and makeup air. A 30-40K appliance and ventilation budget in a 120-150K kitchen redo .

If you want appliances in the upper mid 60-85 percentile, you’re talking GE Profile or Frigidaire Pro or low level Bosch type appliances. The vast majority of kitchen remodels use plain old Maytag or GE level appliances.

Thanks for your reply! How do Jenn-Air and/or Kitchen Aid fit into that scene? We've had Bosch in the past and (based upon repairs) would prefer to avoid that route. We've had mixed experience with Jenn-Air... we had a cooktop that needed repair, but then worked very well for years. We have also had mixed experiences with being able to find someone who could reliably repair appliances in the past... so that is definitely something we are taking into consideration.

If you want a real Pro style range, you want a BlueStar, not tinny Chinese knockoffs with zero service or support. But you also need real Pro style ventilation and real Make Up Air to go with the range. That raises the level of everything needed in your kitchen. You are doing that whole 150K kitchen. Not a 30K kitchen plus 30K worth of appliances.

Just looked at a sort of upscale rental community (about two hundred units) in California that all have Thor appliances in their kitchens. Maybe I'll follow up with them regarding reliability/durability.
