Smaller Homes Home Repair Design Dilemma

HELP with bathroom remodel

Hi all, this bathroom vanity was built in by builders many years ago. the countertop runs into the door casing. the vanity comes up flush to the edge of door. We would like to change the countertop to granite etc. looking for advice on how to change the countertop. Do we cut it out to fit back into this strange shape next to the door? Do we have any other options? thank you!!

Maybe they can put a notch in the wood trim so that the counter top can run straight rather than the funky angle cut in granite/counter top. Just get someone who could do it properly with a little skill. They will probably have to use a little caulking to finish it off though. May need to paint trim too.

The granite fabricator should be able to tell you how to handle this issue.
