Arching branches, narrower leaf shape and ~orange fruit color of 'Lowfast' point to it belonging to a kind like Cotoneaster x suecicus and not C. dammeri.

Likewise plant asked about here may not be contour hugging enough and too gray-leaved to be C. dammeri. Also the flowers look kind of small relative to leaf size in this shot.

Well then.....99% of the horticultural world must have it wrong!! That's how you will find it listed and sold virtually everywhere.

In NI it was probably sold simply as C dammeri.

I think the variety Cotoneaster x suecicus 'Skogholm' is similar but 'Lowfast' seems to be listed as C. dammeri. Thank you for the info.

Cotoneaster x suecicus - to which 'Lowfast' probably belongs - is often offered as C. dammeri, even though the former is not even ground-hugging, has visibly different leaves and so on.

In addition C. dammeri 'Eichholz' or simply C. 'Eichholz' are synonyms of C. radicans (C. dammeri var. radicans). C. radicans has different leaves from C. dammeri and usually paired flowers.

Ah, the picking of nits yet again!! One is far less interested in the ever-changing fine points of taxonomy than one is in finding the plants marketed for sale or described and written about in most gardening and horticultural resources.

Unless you are writing a textbook, who cares about these minor distinctions??

I probably shouldn't - 'Streib's Findling' is another super flat evergreen cotoneaster that will spill over a wall like that. Embothrium will inform you of the super proper current classification.
