They’re all beautiful, I think the infinity edge is awesome but really only works if it looks like it’s actually with the water behind it, when they do plants and such behind it it kind of defeats the purpose.

They are nice but you know what my dream pool is? I adore lap swimming so for me the ideal pool would be a long--and I mean a minimum of 150 yards long--pool that has lovely green tile and a row of small lights in the bottom middle to help me keep on track. It wouldn't have to be wide and could in fact be quite narrow, perhaps five or six feet wide. It might even have a small decorative bridge over it and plants along the side. But it's most important feature would be its length.

Thanks Aphaea for your thoughts, the long narrow design of the lap pool would definitely make a statement! We have in fact built lap pools for our clients.

Yes they’re all beautiful! I would love to see a pool with the negative edge with glass tile and the floating steps also would love to see the water feature wall have a negative edge as well with torch sconces, Intricate pergola with torches around it with beautiful tropical plants in pots and in soil. Slab lounge seating that you lay on with cushions.

What do you want the statement to say? They all make a statement, but there are some that say something I like, and some that say something I don't. My favourite is probably the tile and the fire, but the dolphins are kind of scary.

Between the dolphins and the windows flipping me the bird, Natural Stone scares me. Wet Decks is the one I prefer.

Paragon pools what kind of pool enhancement do you think makes a statement since you’re a pool designer/installer

Mine is a contemporary rectangular, understated. I dislike faux rocks, boulders and other doo dads.

K Laurence, We are not a fan of faux rocks either, we always try to steer our clients to using natural stone when they are seeking a lagoon or natural style project.

The idea op a wet-deck strikes me as quite pointless, and impractical. Don't care for fire in the daylight. The others are fine. I like natural rock features, particularly where it allows diving.

As you can see from the comments it is something a little different for everybody. And that truly is the most important thing… what’s most important to the individual. For me, I have gone through the gambit of having many different types of water features and fire features and have enjoyed them all. At this point in my life, I like the simplest forms - the water is beautiful to look at any time. I like to enhance that look by framing the pool with beautiful decking, plants and flowers and areas to hang around the pool so you can enjoy the whole ambiance. In all my designs, I always make sure no matter what enhancements we choose we want to ensure the backyard is functional and fits the lifestyles of the whole family.

I love the wet decks idea! I love the look of the stone, but it does look jagged and scary sometimes. My idea of a perfect pool is "beach entry pool" and a "swim up bar"! Beach entry is great for kids and older people. Swim up bar...well, enough said! :-) Photo courtesy of google

They are all nice, I'd like to see a swim up bar.

We’re definitely partial to the water features but are big fans of the infinity edge trend and the fire...you can never go wrong combining the elements of water and fire in a pool design!

I certainly agree, you touch both senses of sight and sound by incorporating fire and water elements.
