I'm siting it 4' off center. Put a stick of wood in in the ground yesterday where the shrub will be. Got my Firelight ordered, yay. Methink's I won't have it on hand till they ~finish it~ out of cold/warm frame and it breaks dormancy. I'm hoping the nursery will get it to me earlier than later. I actually would not mind getting it dormant as it will give me some time for some roots to develop. Well, there is always the 3rd year to get established regardless rue.

i don't have a ref. when the nurseries bring them in, but I wanna sorta say it's more like mid summer - aka, when there are blooms on them. LL standards plenty. Not so sure of FL. If I had it up to me, I would not have not a custom order and just picked on up in person, looking at the *framework* of the standard and cherry picking the best one of the bunch.

A couple growth flushes and they will be there.

Stir fryi, they have been growing roots and settling in. Most shrubs don’t put on much top growth in their first few growing seasons, and these will be slow growing since they are destined to stay relatively small. Gardening is one of my much-needed life lessons in patience. ;>)

SFRY - specs on GV is called at 1-2 inches per year. Ha, you should see the smile on my fave everytime the spring flush happens. Knowing the crawling inche will eventually make the speced 36" size - in time..
