Ortochini...it’s white oak. Thanks, we just replaced the tiled entry foyer with it and had the adjoining rooms refinished to match. Very happy!

Special Walnut seems like a good neutral medium tone. You will have a beautiful room!

Our floor contractor put down several stain samples directly on the floors themselves. Much easier to make a decision seeing it where it’s going to be.

We just had our 1960-installed white oak floors refinished. We decided not to use any stain at all, even though there were a few pet stains. Might also have been decision fatigue ;) we are 4 months in to a big Reno job.

Dont forget to take a look at just a water based poly with NO stain. Its a very pretty option, especially over White Oak . Provincial is another medium stain you should consider.

looks very nice, hopefully they can make it a little darker for you. It will look better when you put all your furniture and accent rugs in. Don't fret!

I like it. I wouldn't go any darker.

@Alison we're looking to do a white oak with no stain as well... have you been happy with your floors? Easy to maintain? Any issues with new stains? We have pets as well.

@J.Clark - I'm thrilled with the floors a year on. So glad we skipped the stain. They really look lovely. We added a pup to the family in October (small terrier) and he had some accidents but they haven't penetrated the varnish at all. Good luck!

@Alison thanks! one more question... did you do an oil or water based finish and did they put a sealer down first? I've read that certain finishes can yellow over time and I wouldn't want that.
