thanks Ed. All the reds look very pink to me. I think of all of these, I like the darkwood dark red, but think that will make for a really dark house if we paint the exterior dark gray. Also, what is your opinion on painting the window as well and then having the door and window frame painted white?

is there a way to play with the color of the house and the door at the same time?

Hi Jamiealynn, you're very welcome. Each of our computer displays/monitors is slightly different, unless it is calibrated regularly by pros, so what you see on your screen will be slightly different from bamamom's screen, Anita's screen, and mine, etc. :) These are just mock up, concept tests, eventually you still need to get real paint chips and real sample paints on real sample materials and look at the colors at your actual location, under different lighting conditions. :) Different times of the day, different weather conditions, different lighting. :)

Hi Jamiealynn, I think to see different colors on the house, it's difficult to render given the current very dark, almost black, materials (insulation?) on the walls ?

Hi Jamiealynn, yes, I completely understand how you feel about the thousands of decisions. I'm around the 90% point of our remodel, and there are still tons of decisions left to make! :)

yes, they were putting the dry wall up today so once that is up it won't be black anymore. i will post a different pic once its done so we can play with contrasting colors. thanks

Hi Jamiealynn, here's a test -- the black (insulation?) material does affect the coloring.
Door = SW 2801 Rookwood Dark Red. Walls = SW 7025 Backdrop.
The 7025 Backdrop shows up completely differently on the black materials (as grey),
versus on the white walls (as pinkish).

Hi Jamiealynn, yes, after the dry wall is up, the walls will have a much more workable, non-black color. :) Much easier to work with. :)

I think a red with a bit of orange in it could be nice and show up better under the deep porch with the gray.

How about using a lighter grey on the two walls of the porch? The red is sun dried tomato, the dark grey is baby seal black and the lighter is barren plain (seperate image)

Ed- The dry wall should have gone up today. I will be back over the weekend and will take an updated pic.

Victoriabungalow- do you have a specific paint color in mind?

Stamps design - so are you suggesting that the color on the siding under the porch is a different color than the rest of the house? The siding will wrap around to the side of the house....would you bring the lighter color around until we phase out the siding? You don't think the baby black steal (which is a contender) and the barren plain is too much of a contrast? I like the sun dried tomato, whose product are these colors?

I like the color in the picture you posted and I looked it up-- "The paint color is Sherwin Williams Daredevil Orange (high gloss over a metal door)." The grey is not identified, but it is one with a bit of blue in it that contrasts nicely.

Does anyone know the name of the first color - it's an orange red?
