Do you know the names of the first 2? I love the variegated top ones, and the middle ones with the rich dark red against the very green inner growth is beautiful. I feel inspired to start a painting with those colours. If I do I'll post here lol

The first one with green and yellow outlines is Aeonium Sunburst. That one was hard to grow. I rotted out a few of them by overwatering. It takes a while for them to take root in gritty mix, but once they do they seem fairly robust. Now that mine have taken root it will be interesting to see how much they die back in the Summer.

The second one is a Home Depot hybrid with some proprietary name, but they look very similar to Aeonium Catlin. Except mine are red in the middle and green on the outside, whereas Catlin is green in the middle and red on the outside.

The third one is a variety of very common Aeoniums, including Aeonium Voodoo and Aeonium Arboreum.

Nice! Mine did fine (in gritty mix) and seem ok with summer water. They are in a spot that doesn't get much. I love the 'Sunburst' - I've never tried that one, may have to now!

Most of mine are in the front yard (where they tend to take over), but I put a cutting in my back yard, where I have much worse soil:

That variegated one in the first photo is spectacular. Don't have any of my own as I don't see them as being really suited to houseplants as much as garden plants which they can't be up here.

@geoforce, Sunburst would make a spectacular plant in the entry area of a home, if you could put it in a large container and make sure it gets enough light. Learning the water habit might be tricky if the plant loses its normal clues about what is Winter or Summer. These want a lot of water in Winter, and they do not like a lot of water in Summer. You can kill them with rot over watering in the Summer.

Here is a closeup of the second photo, which better shows the coloration of the Home Depot Aeonium that looks similar to Catlin.

@Nil13 Very nice. My A. castello-piavae 'variegata' turned into a large bush of solid green (i.e., the variegation disappeared). Not sure what happened there. That one seems very fragile to lighting conditions.

I have on that's very black-pure black. Touchy to hot summer heatwaves. Will burn.

Somebody else in Hayward posted on gardenweb their pure black Aeonium clump that he said was thriving in ground. I keep mine potted...gophers,slugs,cats..it's easy to snap branches.

I envy anyone that can grow these outside. Here's a pic of mine that currently lives in my laundry room window. It has great light as you can see.

Almost no sooner did I post,then a slug or snail got some big leaflets on my black Aeonium. I moved it,found a big old snail nearby and sent him airmail...

errr...ummm...air “snail”...?

Kids were around. Couldn't just step on it..so did the next best. wink.

Last year my Aeonium tabulaeforme flowered and died. But it self sowed

in the pot and the tiddlers have been growing slowly all winter. The ruler is in inches.

Ummmmm.......those are amazing!!!! Ugh, I wish I could grow succulents outside. Stupid east coast. I definitely need to move to California or Arizona. Growing succulents indoors in windows or (like all of mine) under lights is just not the same (obviously) as growing outdoors in FULLsun like yours. Really beautiful Westes.
