Please finish my bedroom.

This room wasn't on my list of to do's but it is now? I ordered a night stand to match the right side and then I ordered a bench and hope there is enough room. Id likem to keep the black and white bedding and add... this blue animal print. should I try to incompatible print by recovering bench and adding a pillow. If so, what happens to my pictures I purchased. are the night tables and Bench going to be too matchy? I stress me out and hope to have peace with your help.

RJ,,, I think Overstock carries it. (remember, acrylic isn't cheap)

    but, it's also here"

    Target has this one:

I like your white nightstand on the right. if you ordered another one, you're good.

and yes, was wondering if you could turn the bed and put it against the wall on the right. Your windows and drapes are very nice. Hate to see them obscured.

if you must leave it there, see if you can cut down your headboard to lower it,(someone else on here was advised to do that and it made a huge difference in the final look of the room) or perhaps exchange for something lower.

do you plan on doing a rug?

on your tray ceiling, take your blue wall paint and paint the ceiling (within the molding). and if you can darken it by 25% more, great!

These pictures are of the bed on the inside wall. Please let me know your thoughts.

So much better in the new location! Your room looks larger with the bed moved and you'll have better light with the windows exposed. I think the art works, too, if you love it. Gorgeous wall color.

I would have moved the bed to the other wall. A headboard wall is a nice focal point in a room. Was the animal print for the bench? I like that idea.

Finally found the paint color. The walls are “Samual” by True Value Hardware and the ceiling is Balanced by True Value Hardware. I was going to Atmospheric Blue but liked this shade better.

Here is the bed on the small wall and you can see there is no room for sidetables.
I'm thinking seriously about cutting the headboard down 4" and leave it in front of the window. I left the bed on the inside wall to give it a chance but not sure if I can deal with it like that. I feel like I'm going to trip over the bed when I walk in the room? I need decorating 101 therapy,

I was hoping to use the animal print for pillows and/or bench. I wasn't sure if It would be too much with the black and white comforter.

So I'm heading out to hit the stores looking for art, what should I be looking for? would a horse print go in here with the leopard print? Probably not.

Wow, you move fast! Or had you done this previously and taken a pic? I'm so sorry, totally forget about the small wall. You're right: that doesn't work. The opposite wall is better.

No that was done this morning. It’s easy to swing furniture around when there’s not much stuff in the way or a rug.The rug had a lot of cream with black in it so I rolled it up and put it in my never never yard sale stock.

The room is much better with the bed on the longer wall. You may now have room for a narrow bench on the wall with the closet door.

Put the bed back on the long wall, it looked lovely.

I actually like the bed best on the window wall where it is nicely framed by your windows and drapes. There doesn’t seem to be room for a bench though. I don’t like walking into the side of a bed from the entry, sounds like you feel the same way.
I do like the bed in front of the windows in this room. I read alot of post on Houzz about the bed in front of the windows and most said add more curtains. It's mixed feelings and people ask me or give me the look of why would you put the bed there.

I'm shopping looking for smaller benches to compare with the one I ordered.
So what about the animal print? Not too much just a hint! Can we incorporate that in here?

If you like the bed in front the windows and it works for you (it does make sense in the room), then do it. Who cares if others wonder about it? I've seen it done many times to great effect but usually, the bed is framed by two curtain panels, not three.

Animal prints are a neutral in my books so "heck, yeah!" :P Can you return it if you don't like it?

tartanmeup, I'll move the curtains around after the bench comes in and then we'll go from there? I found the blue cheetah print online and I was going to order a few yards to redo bench and make a few pillows.

Sounds like a plan. Can you get a fabric swatch before ordering the quantity you need? Or, if it doesn't work in your room, could you use the fabric elsewhere?

Hey Tartanmeup, I check in to samples tomorrow and if it’s not to bad I’ll order it. My list keeps growing! So I went up moved the curtains, changed the bed, and borrowed a bench out of my retreat room. The bench I ordered is not near as big as this nor does it resemble the one coming. So check out my pictures and let me know what you think. The broom is from the edge of the bench to the closet door. OSHUA would say I’m in regulation with them how about Houzz? LMAO!!

So if y’all are bored and would like to help me with my other post I would be delighted, giddy, tickled pink and all that jazz. Oh I just realized I don’t know how to attach the link to my current dining room design delimna . If someone could help me post the link, I’d definitely appreciate it.
All I can say is you have a great guy to hold those pictures up on the walls and then move all they furniture around!
Beth, thanks for sending the link for the bench. Ouch it’s a bit pricey but I’ll see if I can find a deal on it! Fingers crossed!
Shady willow, I’ll give him credit for that. He grumbles under his breath but has learned to just do it... or else! He said he’d pose naked if I needed him too. I barfed!!

I was hoping to go shopping yesterday but.... yeah that didn't happen. I got dressed, hair and makeup, and then went out side to pressure wash the house instead. So should I order this fabric or go in a different direction.

I like the animal print idea but white background would be better. Lots of options online.

That's true. So glad you guys are keeping me straight. Do you think the color barrowp posted will work with the color of my walls?

Your bedroom is looking yummy good. Please just move the bed away from the drapes so they can fall straight down and also the bench is hogging the bed. Move it a bit towards you and away from the bed. I would keep the wall colors the same as the wall, a new color would only show a strip of it beside the drapes. Usually, a focus wall is in full view. Your choice of color is perfect.

rj, your walls are a diff blue shade. more of an aqua base w/a tad of green.

that other animal print is blue/purple. so, no.

the one you posted is a better match. can you order a sample?

    these would work.

RJ he looks just fine from the back - run with them nekkid pics!

Yay!! Received the second nightstand and I'm loving it.

I could swear I ordered that bench but it doesn't look like I did. So, here I go losing my mind, again. Should I order the gold one I originally wanted or go with two? The Delft Chenille Animal Print Blue Upholstery fabric should be here early next week. This room is looking gorgeous! Thank you!

Just my two cents--I think the room looked more charming/cozy with the bed on the long wall as Beverly suggested.

The gold bench you wanted looks good, RJ. If it fits, go for it though I must say I liked the long one Beth H. found at Lamps Plus. It has a base that echoes your lamps. Was that a possibility for you?

    last modified: 7 years ago

I agree about this bench. it's a great match w/the lamp base. I also added a white shag rug for under the bed and bench, and some artwork.

    or two of these

    leopard is always nice.

    some other art selections

You could also do a deeper blue rug. would look great against the tiles

and something in this darker teal color would be a nice accent in the room.

I love what you’ve done with your room so far!
It’s been crazy but I made it and still smiling. My mom was so surprised with all her guest and so thankful for the love she has. Not sure who cried more, mom or dad. It was the sweetest! So now to the gorgeous room that is in the making. Well I thought I ordered the bench and then couldn’t find where I did. Come to find out I have two O accounts. The bench was delivered, assembled and out in room for 2 days before I noticed it. Here are the pics. The pic on wall was borrowed from another room to help with size and which wall to hang on. I love all the suggestions. So many options! One thing for sure I can’t have a white rug. I potties trained my puppies on white bath Matts to get their scent and moved them to the potty pads. Now, I must be cautious of white on the floor. They seemed to get a little confused. My questions with the bench-Is there too much gold? What do you think of the sample of the fabric? Should bench stay white if kept? Is the spacing correct for a bench and does the bench take away from the bed? Thanks for your help.

RJ, it looks beautiful! I like the bench. if keeping the black/white spread, then keep the bench white. I like the leopard print too, but not w/the current printed bedspread.

(for potty training, the pads are only meant for a substitute until they learn bladder control and go to the door to be let out. don't let them rely on using them solely as a toilet area!)

the art on the wall is perfect. The other large wall needs something. maybe a floor or wall mirror?

Or, put the bigger art work on the large wall, and for the small wall you can do some type of hanging or photo collage.

So glad the party was a success! The gold bench is great. It doesn't take away from the bed but how does it work for you, traffic flow-wise? Are you bumping into it? If so and it serves a functional purpose, could you move it against a wall? Not sure about the animal print with the spread. Looks fine in the bottom pic from the side but looks busy in the first pic. How do you like the pairing? I like Beth's idea of a large mirror on the wall opposite the art. Beautiful room.

Love the room so far! Love the room up against the window wall.

Walking into a room where the headboard is the focal point is so much better than walking into the side of the bed.

Good glad you spoke up. I thought the animal printt and bedspread is clashed. It’s gotta be one or the other. I paid a lot of $$ for the B&W spread and it’s very warm for the winter but I want this smashing room. Please be my guide. Also, this isn’t my actual bedroom. It’s a whoever needs a room kinda room but definitely gets used. I call our house the Inn @ Wassamassaw. I have an upright dresser that I’m going to put in the closet... just in case and I have a chair that I can paint and add the animal print or move the bench. I really have mixed feelings with the bench at the end of the bed. It’s pretty but is it taking away from the look we are going for?
About my not so puppies they are 8 and 11 years old. My Maltese is only 5 pounds and she is the laziest dog ever! She can’t climb the steps. We take her out and depending on her mood she will potty or give us a fake squat. Luckily, she does poop outside and pees on her terms and that’s where the potty pads come in. I’ve tried the training classes and punishing but nothing worked. She’s like a rescue with PTSD. I’d rather be safe!
Back to the room, I not feeling the floor length mirror I’d like to try something else. We haven’t talked about the dormer and the desk. The art was borrowed from another room but we can keep it here or find something else. So many decisions and with your help it’s so easy! thank you.
I like the bench, and I didn’t think I would. It looks like there is enough room. I also like your black and white spread, but definitely a not with the brown leopard print. But...what does everyone think about leaving the bench white and adding the indigo print pillows that Beth found at One Kings Lane?

    Following.

I love the benches. If it’s truly a highly-used guest room, the benches are a great addition. I moved my bed in front of windows at my designer’s suggestion and I think it “frames” the bed. This looks great.

This looks great. I Love the bed in front of the windows. I think the white/gold bench pairs better with the black and white spread. I would move the art to the larger wall and place a mirror (just about the same size as the art) on the smaller wall.

Beth did you see the price of those pillows? Their like 220 each. I wish I had the money to blow on them!
I feel like I’m jumping all over the place but what can we do to make that dormer come closer without using a hammer or nail. What can we do to make it feel part of the room?
