Thank you. It Is an old Broyhill piece I have had for years and years. I just refinished them. They used to be a dark mocha color.

Sandy, you could possibly do the same with any chest you're considering? As for colours, well, your imagination is the limit. For a bedroom, I love the idea of glossy white, navy, black, matte metallics, soft or bright blues, pinks, greens...perhaps it's the finish you need to determine first rather than the colour? Do you prefer matte or shine? Possibilities are endless. I'm sure you'll find something that makes you say "that's it!"

About nightstands heights, why do people usually recommend same height or a bit higher than the bed? Mine is currently higher than my bed and I keep hitting it (yes, I'm clumsy). Thinking an inch or two lower than my bed wouldn't be a bad idea for me. I'll guess I'll have to see and trust my eye for the proportions.

1. Visually it looks “off” for a bedside table to sit lower than the mattress.

2. Lighting ......especially if you read in bed. If the lighting sits at your level or lower it doesn’t provide adequate light. Lighting needs to sit higher . If I’m fact your bedside table sits lower than your mattress and if it does hopefully only a couple inches lower you would need to have very tall lamps to accommodate for this. And speaking of lamps it also looks off if your lamps are taller than your head board height .

Your room is looking sooo pretty, Sandy ! Love all the choices you have made. I think either kind of lamp would work. ( Not much help, I know ). It just depends on the lamp itself, and when you find some choices what you would like best. You are well on your way. It is going to look beautiful with some pretty lamps. A pretty clear glass ,in a very pale aqua or spring green ,lamp with white shade could also be a consideration.

Looking good Sandy! Since your walls are white a white lamp or clear lamp won’t show up very well. I would consider a metal tone. Or perhaps a white that has a lot of texture like these

I’ll add that i still think wallpapering the wall behind your bed would be stunning. Something neutral that would add pattern or texture. A gray grass cloth that has a silver like sheen to it would be stunning

Sandy of the lamps you shared i like the simplicity of the first one . I love a wall of mouldings. If you were to do that i would do squares (Scottish moulding is what it is sometimes referred to as) instead of just slats

Sandy, if you were to do some applied molding to your wall, I like the one you pictured the best ( and also the color ) . I think the other styles would add too much pattern ,were they to be with the tone -on - tone swirly fretwork pattern of your rug and the diamond pattern in your bedding that you already have going on. The one you showed originally, with just the straight vertical boards could work, also. BUT those are two completely diff. styles. This last one you sent - a more elegant traditional style - frames the bed nicely, but in so doing might make the side panels pretty narrow . You would need to measure and tape the widths off to see what it looks like in real life. The board and batten one is more rustic elegance .— I would decide your lamps after deciding IF and WHICH kind of paneling you might use.That then would inform the choice of lamps. Ie. ) I liked the Alina lamp with your walls as they are ( or maybe just painted the color in your inspiration molding picture ) , but feel it would not look as good with the traditional molding ( notice how different in style the lamps in the insp. photo are ) .

This is the board and batten which I was referencing. It would look nice with the color of your walls as they are now.

Re. the crown molding in your room - If you were doing this look , I would just take it 2/3 up the wall and leave some wall space between the top, horizontal board and your existing crown molding. We are talking just about the wall behind the bed, - is that correct ?

In the 2/3 wall suggestion comment above I meant to add this to clarify on which style I was commenting .

I think whatever you do needs to be cohesive with your cabinet doors on the opposite wall. Those look like they have a shaker front? Hard to tell from picture. But if you do a more formal trim like pictured if those cabinet doors arent formal it’s going to not look cohesive. Also don’t stop your moulding short of your ceiling . This will make your ceiling height look lower instead of drawing/continuing the eye up it will stop where the moulding does. It doesn’t look like you have overly high ceilings so you don’t want to make them appear lower. Be congnicent of your bedside table color and How it will play against the wall color you choose. ;-)

This molding is not quite the same, but it gives an idea of how molding would look if it were not going all the way to the ceiling. It is enhanced however, imo. , with the wall above being painted a different color.

To clarify, I was not suggesting to paint ONLY the portion above the molding . It would be pretty to paint all your walls the taupe color (as in your pic. ) and then do the board and batten in white the same as your crown white.

Yes they are shaker doors. I actually did horizontal stripes on my daughters accent wall. Would this be something that would work for my room? Sorry, I know I’m sort of all over the place.

Agree with Pink_Peony on keeping the style cohesive. Love the look of moulding and considered it for my master bedroom. What's making me nix the idea is dust. Doing my best to reduce allergens in that room and don't want to add more horizontal surfaces I'll need to dust. Sharing that thought in case it's a consideration for you as well, Sandy. I like the idea of a bit of glimmer/lustre for the lamps and would be tempted by a white ceramic or glass base as per your original thought. It's coming along beautifully - great job!

While I think your all-white bedroom is beautiful (I like the hint of contrast with the cream walls), I would add one pastel accent color....a comfortable upholstered chair, a pair of accent pillows or a soft throw. You may enjoy adding some art in the future, and that will add color.

Sandy i think the stripes are great in your daughters room but imo should be kept there. Your headboard is formal. I think your goal is to create a adult space and painted stripes won’t take you in that direction.

A lot of great ideas! Tartanmeup, thank you for pointing out the dust issue. My allergies will hate me if I have to dust one more area of my house. So, wallpaper it is! I do want to hang mirrors right over my nightstands. I think the wall paper will give it a nice subtle pop. My journey continues, thanks again for all your time and feedback.
