Work on the lighting to bring the focus down the wall. You should not use one runner because it will only make the hallway longer

A rug runner with a pattern that runs the width will make the hall appear not so very long.

Rug? More lighting? Small narrow shelf?

Use the largest wall for a gallery.

Or larger pieces...

The biggest thing I'm seeing from all of your suggestions is the need for better lighting. I may have to invest in some pod lights just to make the hallway seem lighter. I'll get a quote on the pod-lights and keep you posted. I like rugs, but I think in a hallway they will be a nightmare to clean since that hallway does see a lot of foot traffic. I have never had rugs on a hallway before. I like Manon's idea of having one big piece in one of the walls, I may DIY something this weekend. And I think I will use your gallery wall idea on the wall for the staircase, I just feel like with how narrow the hallway is, the picture may be under appreciated. Use LED lights. I have carpeting (not wall to wall, but installed.) It is great on the feet and easy to vacuum.
