I have not used them in the last 10 years or so but never had much success with the SP in general quality wise. Hurd even less so and the H3 is a Hurd product after or just before Hurd was bought by SP. Personally I do not think much of the product lines or the company. Just my .02.

We chose Sierra Pacific casement windows for our custom home that was built in 2018. The SP windows we used are an improved version of the old Hurd H3 windows which combined a vinyl "core" with wood on the interior and aluminum clad on the exterior. I thought the science of the design made a lot of sense.

The stats on the casement windows are impressive so that is what sold us on the window. We live in the Southeast and the windows come standard with upgraded aluminum powder coating on the exterior, low e366 coating and argon gas. We have several windows that face west so we will see how the windows manage hot summer sun.

We did have some issues with 5 of the 60+ windows installed. When the casement window was closed, you could see a gap between the sill and the frame. On windy days you could hear a faint whistle. Our builder stayed on the problem working first with our local distributor who then turned it over to the local Sierra Pacific rep. The rep said the wrong size "snubber" (I think that is the name of the part) was installed on those 5 windows. Correcting the issue is a matter of replacing the part. SP was aware that some large casements were manufactured with the wrong size snubber.

When we realized we had windows that were not closing properly, I was nervous that there would be a bunch of finger pointing about the issue and it would drag on and on. The local distributor was very responsive and their service tech tried to correct the issue before calling in the SP rep. Our meeting with the rep was only last week so I can't say yet that the issue is solved to our satisfaction - but so far we have been very, very pleased with SP's response. The rep certainly seemed sincere in his promise to resolve the issues.

We've only been in our home 5 months so I can't speak to how the SP windows will hold up long-term. At this point I can recommend the windows and feel the energy efficiency of the windows combined with the cost make a very impressive case for the brand.

@millworkman I have been following your comments on Houzz with regards to windows. I am getting ready to start a house and have casement windows specked. I was looking at an all vinyl window, but now rethinking that idea. What aluminum clad exterior with wood interior (primed) would you recommend. I am in south Louisiana.

Sierra Pacific has the worst product and service of any company I have ever worked with, and I use contractors and buy products a lot. We spent a small mortgage replacing all 28 (!) windows and doors, and not only were they defective both in manufacturing and operation, but the service staff in Denver and the upper management in Colorado was horrible. The Service Manager in Denver and the Regional Manager in Colorado misrepresented what they would do for us re: warranty claim, and ultimately after a many months long waste of our time, blamed the installer and did not honor their SP warranty. We wasted two years patiently trying to work with Sierra Pacific on issues with almost all of our windows and doors, and while they did do repairs after a year and a half to make them operable (though still subpar), they blew off the manufacturing defects. Even our installer dropped their product line after our nightmare job because of their horrible experience with Sierra Pacific. I would NEVER recommend Sierra Pacific windows and certainly not if ordered from any Colorado office. And don't be fooled by their glowing "warranty". It is purely fiction.

I just had 33 SP windows installed. I can see daylight through the latch for all windows. The opening is big enough that mosquitos, so see 'ems and other small insects get in the house. My builder told me a lie about missing a piece and actually sent a guy to my house when I wasn't home to "install the piece". Came home. Nothing changed. A bunch of bugs in my house. I don't want to tuen on lights as it draws the bugs inside. This opening is big enough to probably slide a dime through so that means mice can get through. Im a single old woman and the builder and supplier tell me a bunch of platitudes hoping I will go away. I want a defective products, class action law suit. Ideas?

We ordered a number of windows and doors through Louis Plourde at the Westlake Village, CA location in Nov/Dec 2022 and PAID IN FULL UPFRONT (about 50-60k), including the screens. Sierra Pacific did not install the French Doors with the chosen handle to match the other doors we ordered, and they never delivered the screens despite numerous requests. Louis refused to explain why they installed an extra tall large sliding door that was not what we wanted, and had a handle type I hate and had specifically wanted to avoid. He refused to answer phone calls or meet about why this was and refused to hand over the keys. It is now April 2026 and we still do not have the keys for the doors illegally installed against our contract without our approval (!! at our own house!!). We spent $15k on attorney fees but our scamming contractor refused to even reply and we are told it will cost far more than that to sue in court. He had us pay in full upfront and we were too naive to know that is illegal until it was too late.

Sierra Pacific will be liable for any theft from our house as they never provided us with keys to the door they installed. WE NEED THE KEYS in order to sell the house WE PAID IN FULL. It has been miserable to live there with no SCREENS, we curse Lou and Sierra Pacific every warm day. Do not make such an expensive purchase from a small owner operated place like this again who can get away with a scam like this without any central corporate oversite. I tried appealing to their legal team but they said the contract was with lou and our scamming contractor and we needed to solve it with them. I filed a police report but the police said they can't help as it is a "contract matter" and we would need to file a civil suit. I have gone by the office to discuss in person a number of times but Lou is never there.

We are now fully replacing all our upstairs windows and redoing some of the ones they screwed up and I can assure you we will never order from this company again. Many of the seals peeled off within two years, we've had trouble with some of the door latches since we moved back in, and when they installed they left huge ugly scratch marks in the nice dark brown paint finish that show the silver beneath that they never touched up and looks horrible.

I have consulted with numerous new contractors and they all are in disbelief at what a poor installation job Sierra Pacific did that left us unable to even install shades because the jambs are so uneven and wonky. Apparently they mismeasured too small and then tried to fix it by adding all sorts of sloppy looking pieces of wood that inner shades can't affix to because it is not flat enough.

Total waste of a lot of money.
