Wholesome Interior Design thank you. I've always struggled with scale and was only looking at the shades. You don't think the white shades look "off" somehow?

Agree with the above suggestion for a clunker lamp base. In a foyer I'd use one lamp rathet than 2. Either a black shade or this might be a good opportunity to try painting the fabric shade a color a bit darker than the wall color. I do love black shades lined with gold foil.

Chunky tables/consoles require chunky lamps. Here the lamp and starburst are lighter and more airy feeling. I'd prefer only one lamp for you.

Or maybe none if you have good lighting in the area.

I think linen shades are classic, but another option is to do a natural woven one in a darker linen or burlap type material. The black shade with reflective gold or silver coulc be nice too. I’ve been happy with Pottery Barn‘s lamp shades. I’m sure you can find some on Houzz as well. The chunkier base will help Glad everyone agreed with my thoughts.

Thank you all so much. Clearly see how I was headed in wrong direction with the scale of the lamps I was trying. You’ve all given me some beautiful choices to look at and I agree that one chunky lamp is the way to go. I’ll post another pic soon:)

That one looks nice and chunkier. What is the width of the base?

Lydia the description doesn't say but the shade is 14" wide. Since my console is only 15" wide I thought it might work. It's 28" tall.

Sorry for the delay in posting; was waiting for lamp to be shipped. I love this one but is it too short? The problem I'm running into is that the taller the lamp the wider the shade-I don't want the shade to be wider than the console. Perhaps a taller floral arrangement at the other end or I could use books to raise the lamp a bit? Not sure why this is such a challenge for me-perhaps because I always colored inside the lines lol. At any rate the lamp measures 60" from the floor to the top of the shade so it is within the 58-64" guidelines I found on Houzz somewhere.

That looks better! :) Then I would add a tray with a short floral arrangement in a glass vase, either square or round like below. The flowers in the arrangement are peonies. You could also a simple candle on the tray next to the flowers.

Thanks Lydia:). Accessories are definitely next and plan to keep it very simple. Now I'm waiting for artwork for the wall opposite the mirror to see if there are any colors in it that I may want to accent with. It's a process for sure:)

So...the foyer saga continues. Finally received the artwork (which I love) but I think it might be too big for the space. The top of the frame is even with the tops of the doors so I could lower a bit but have wainscoting to contend with. We also plan to replace the ceiling light so if y’all want to poke fun at it my feelings won’t be hurt:). I’m a fan of “go big or go home” but may have overdone it:(

I really like the artwork. I think it fills the space nicely. I’ll let the pros talk about how it should be hung.

Not a pro, but I do love your artwork and don’t think it is to big - as long as you love it! It does not appear to be centered on that wall, but maybe the angle is throwing me off?

Center the artwork vertically on the wall, it will be higher than your doorframe but will look proportional to the wall. It’s just hung too low right now.

Heavy-looking mirror, heavy-looking cabinet....need heavier-looking mirror bases. Avoid putting anything else on the console.

Amy k I understand what you're saying but if I center the picture vertically then the center of the pic will be approximately 69" from the floor. I normally try to keep the center of artwork 58-62" from the floor. Even with the picture where it's at the center is still too high so that's why I'm thinking it's too large for the space.

Felizlady not sure what you mean by heavier mirror bases?

The art is large but not in a bad way and the placement works for me.

Now you may slap me for suggesting this but would you consider changing the color of your overhead fixture and making it black or dark? People here have sprayed light fixtures or maybe rub n buff comes in something like oil rubbed brass.

Lisaam lol! Thank you for your input. We do plan to change the ceiling light and I was already on the same page as you-oil rubbed bronze or black. All the hinges and doorknobs in the house are oil rubbed bronze so not sure why the builder chose nickel light fixtures. We're slowly getting them all replaced and only have the foyer and 2 hallway lights left to do. No slap for you today:)
