Lightweight, decorative siding

While I have one project in the wings, there's another one thumbing its nose at me, and I'd love your help.

I have a plain looking but useful shed in the backyard, about 4'x8' I'd guess. It's not an eyesore but it sure isn't pretty. It has shutters (to make it more homey, I'm guessing) so I thought I'd spruce up the look of the yard by putting some siding on it. This is just for fun, but I love the idea.

Thing is, it needs to be negligible in weight. Believe it or not, the shed is moved every once in a while, which is an ordeal, and I wouldn't want to make it worse with weight.

Lemme tell you where my brain has been so far. Maybe craft some "shakes" from something super light (styrofoam? i don't know if you can paint styrofoam), glue them to the shed, then paint the whole thing, with the idea that they'd dry to something like rigid. I know that's wacky but that's the kind of thing I've been ruminating.

Do y'all have any ideas? I'm up for anything. Recycled cereal boxes, bubble wrap, whatever!

Thank you in advance for your wisdom.
