I tried growing potatoes in the large fabric grow bags. Didn't have good results, not sure if due to potato beetles or the bag itself. The bags are now expensive vessels in which to carry hay and straw.

They work great for me. Tomatoes I use 15-20 gallon per tomato or eggplant plant, 5-10 for one pepper plant. Squirrels do like to munch on them. Have to water more than in ground planting.

I have used grow bags made from recycled plastic that’s been “felted”. They worked pretty well for me but they dry out really, really quickly. You might have to water a couple of times a day. I grew potatoes in Some last year.

I've had success growing tomatoes and peppers in 15G grow bags. Key accessories: a trellis that fits inside the bag, bird netting, rodent-eating snakes (optional). Drip irrigation solves the moisture problem. This year I'm trying Armenian cucumbers under the same conditions (I never could resist a challenge).
