Consumer Reports tested the Asko W6424W and gave it a rating of 44 (out of 100) primarily due to its "mediocre" washing. Its predicted reliability is rated poor. Americans have better choices.

I was just checking the Asko North America web site ( www.askona.com ) and saw that they have added a new washer at the top of the lineup. The user manual mentions something about a detergent auto-dosing function, but I did not read into the details beyond noticing that the detergent drawer on the usual upper left position has more compartments than the one in a conventional washer.

The newest one comes with a hot water connection , also . Not sure why this is added on when the logic lineup has a heater . I wonder if this top of the line washer does not follow american water limit provision ?

Does anybody at all currently sells in the US market a compact (23.5 to 24 inch wide) front load washer that does not have two water inlet connections, one for cold water, and one for hot water?

As for water consumption, I just checked the US gov. Energy Star website, and saw that Asko washers in general are near the top of the rankings in the 4 cubic feet and smaller size when it comes to the Integrated Water Factor metric (with the lower number representing less water usage per cubic foot of washing machine volume capacity).

There is the whirlpool compact that comes with cold water inlet .

The Whirlpool WFW5090JW and WFW3090JW both have only cold-water inlets. The latter has very small capacity. The former was rock bottom in Consumer Reports's testing.

Does the Asko auto dose work the same way as Miele twin dos system or is there a difference?

The differences I noticed are: (a) Miele's Twin Dos system use two replaceable cartridges while Asko's auto dose system has internal reservoirs which you fill from the top of the machine; (b) Miele's Twin Dos system is a two product dispenser (detergent and wash enhancer) where Asko's system is strictly a detergent dispenser with you deciding whether you want Detergent A or detergent B, More specficially, Miele's system is designed to use one cartridge (called "Phase 1") for the detergent and the other (called "Phase 2") for laundry enhancement (such as activated oxy bleaches) and adjusts the proportions of the Phase 1 and Phase 2 mix based on the wash program you've selected. Asko's system only dispenses detergent.

Was that what you were asking about or did you have something else in mind such as how and where the Miele washers inject the detergent and etc. in the washer?

Miele‘s system has fewer parts and a shorter dispensing path. There are no internal containers to grow mold or gunk up. Miele’s system is likely the best designed and most reliable consumer system on the market.

why $2700 you mean with tax? $2599 msrp correct any idea why it is priced so high? isn't the most expensive W1 $2K?

You have to be prepared that service for an Asko will be difficult at best. I had an older one before I bought the Mieles and even though it could heat the water to extremely high temperatures, the cleaning performance was not good, it broke and leaked at regular intervals, and it was way more difficult to find service than for Mieles. Of course, Asko may have “evolved” and machines now may not reflect my experience on performance, but I will bet service is still difficult.

I would share Luna’s concern about an open autodos system like Asko’s growing mold and other gunk. If autodos is important to you, I would think Miele’s system would be the better bet.

Vicky , have you thought about the Gorenje washers , its parent company ? Current asko quality is still questionable. Save money with Gorenje

Not in USA , they do in Canada , ( our neighbor has the same voltage ) , you can see if they can import it into USA. I think they do
