If its an easter cactus,its likely too early... and these plants like to take their time/

I agree with the above your friend’s cactus looks nice. Keep doing what their doing and do not do anything drastic like moving the plant to more sun because that will be a sure way to loose the buds. Just be patient:). I’ve had buds on other succulents take months to open so two weeks isn’t too long. Definitely by Easter your friend will have beautiful flowers. Your friend‘s plant is an Easter cactus or Hatiora gaertneri and as they grow they will have that ”sleepy” look.

I feel a water stress there, very slight. Not sure the plant needs more, it may need less, since if the roots have too much soil saturation, the displayed result (slight wilting) is the same as if they have not enough. Reason being, they simply aren't taking up water well.

It may also be that soil is just too water-retentive. Jungle cacti like lots of rich organic matter, but they also like to drain fairly well, being epiphytes.

But don't change anything till blooms are done.

Watering won't kill the buds, withholding water may cause bud drop.

These are tropical cacti from rain forests where they get exposed to rain & storms. These aren't arid land cacti that wish to be kept dry w/ little water.
