Don't do it. White cabinets with white countertops has been really popular but it's already on the "Outdated looks" lists on the internet. I imagine combining that with white walls would look pretty bland. Work in some contrast and color.

I agree that it is not a great look when everything is white but the op didnt specify white.

True, but my point was the all-over monotone look that you'd get. That's not design, that's matching and if you're going to invest serious money in a kitchen remodel, think about the long-term look of the biggest ticket item, the cabinets unless you're going to live there for decades until you die.

Tone-on-tone can be an effective design decision particularly when there is a dramatic difference in textures. It can otherwise have a very washed out look. It can be a tough balance, but if there is strength in contrast with finishes and/or textures, a monochromatic palette can support a timeless design. As far as longevity of the "trend", it really depends on the execution and the surrounding context. With the right mix of high-gloss, matte, honed, and dimensional in white or black, the positive impact of the design could last for decades!

Addendum: I saw Bobby Berk from Queer Eye speak yesterday. He says he goes by the "spark of joy" rule. He tells clients to make a Pinterest page of everything that sparks joy, from furniture and household stuff to clothes and food. He then looks at the materials, texture, colors and styles and gets his ideas from that. Look at the colors in your house (and your closet) that you spark on. Try to incorporate those colors into your kitchen choices.
