The wedding wrap up post!

So we are done, I am exhausted but happily so. I could literally write a novel on this weekend. There are so many stories and back stories it is ridiculous.

So the wedding was held at my ex-in laws family ranch about an hour north of Atlanta. Let me make it clear, I get along very well with my ex-husband’s family. I still consider his parents my parents even though we’ve been divorced for over 20 years. It is kind of bittersweet spending that much time with them and my sisters and brothers-in-law as I still love them all and enjoy being with them.

So my 5 dearest girlfriends absolutely saved the weekend for me, they broke their necks getting up there and working on the rehearsal dinner and then the flowers for the wedding party all the next day.

Actual rehearsal

My son’s dog had to be there lol.

Getting Prince ready.

The rehearsal dinner was held at a nearby Western Art Museum. My girlfriends saved the evening by doing ALL the setup without me as I had to be at the actual rehearsal.

My husband in his Western garb.

So as it is an actual museum, we couldn’t have plants or candles for the centerpieces. So we went shopping and found these sculptural candelabras and added some moss and fairy lights. Bandanas for napkins. (Don’t get me started on the fairy light, they became a focus of the entire weekend, we are still laughing) These pics are during setup, it was even prettier once the sun went down. I will have to wait for those pics from the photographer.

Some of the girls at the bar, ready to go start setting up.

Some succulents I tossed in the box at the last minute. They even found a use for them!

We had fun!

Wedding day pics in the next post.

So we had to be at the ranch at 9am to start on the bouquets and boutonnières to have them finished by 230pm. We needed every minute.

The upstairs of the barn where the reception was held has suites. This is where the bridal party stayed for the weekend. A few pics of the setup for the girls.

    Flower baby lol.

    Robes and swag bags.

(Here is that room at the end of the night lol)

My daughter was a bridesmaid, I loved her hair.

A pic one of the posse took,

A few random shots of the setup. At this point I had to put away my phone and purse so will have to wait to get actual pics from the photographer.

The covered walkway to the ceremony.

The entrance through the barn to the reception. Gift table.

The table with the gifts for guests, bbq sauce and beef jerky.

    The couple’s table.

The guy with the beard is the groom, my son. The guys with him on the left are the sons of my girlfriends. On the right his best man and the best mans little brother.

Oh Annette, everything is just beautiful! Aren't weddings fun? the planning, the things that go slightly wrong and those that go just right , the pure joy of the day! Your pictures are so good to see. Thank you for sharing.

Yes! It is all so lovely! What a beautiful setting and gorgeous family and friends. I hope you enjoyed it all. I can't wait to see more. Thanks for sharing.

So for fans of the movie “Father of the Bride”, I had a wonderful ending. When the limo was waiting and the bride and groom were leaving I couldn’t get to the couple to say good bye, but no worries I got to stick my head in the limo door and give a quick wave. Then yesterday evening I get a FaceTime call from the airport. They were in the lounge waiting for their flights heading to Bora Bora. It was my new daughter-in-law saying that my son (who was all teary eyed) couldn’t leave without saying good bye. I’m a lucky mom!

Wow, what a lucky girl your new daughter-in-law is to have you! I can't imagine the time, energy and effort that you and your amazing girlfriends put in. Love the succulents with fairy lights, and the flower are beautiful! I read this with special interest because my daughter is getting married in July on the other side of the country and I will be handling a lot of the decorative details. Did you bring the flowers with you or purchase locally? How did you decide on the flower types and arrangements? I must say, I am blown away with what you did--Congratulations!!

So beautiful, wonderful to have such dear friends. Love was evident in every moment of the day.

It all looks lovely. You have great friends, but you know that. Best wishes to the newlyweds!

Congratulations! (I'm actually a little teary regarding the phone call - that's what my sons would do) What a gorgeous setting. I thought a ranch was all cows and horses but just wow.

It sounds like it was fun but hectic and produced great memories for everyone.

Oh and your dress was beautiful.

    Everything looks wonderful, the details!

Blfenton, am I missing something? Where is a picture of Annette in her dress?

Phew! Eld, I thought it was me so I've been searching like a mad woman.

It's on "The wedding is here" thread that Annette posted last week.

Sorry, I had read that thread earlier. I hope Annette doesn't mind my mentioning it.

Sorry, didn’t realize I hadn’t added that pic to this thread.

teeda, I will answer in detail on the flowers later when I find a good pic. But they were bought from a nearby wholesale place. And then more happened. I will fill in later.

Lovely, just perfect! And it looks really comfortable too.

Thanks for taking time to post these! So fun to attend virtually! It all looks great, fun! Sorry I forgot it was your son's wedding. I sort of knew that in the back of my mind but it's kind of a mess back there!

Here is the bride’s bouquet 2 days after the wedding! One of the girls saw it on a table and grabbed it because she didnt want it being thrown in the trash (don’t worry we made 3 bouquets for the bride, one to carry, one to toss and one to save). This is the one she carried.

My sister in law was in charge of the design and setting up the assembly line. She has a book called The Language of Flowers that tells what each flower signifies, so everything has a meaning. Most of the random greenery was cut from her garden and mine as we were leaving. She got panicked about what the wholesale place was going to deliver and thank goodness she did. A bunch of what they delivered was in bad shape or just the wrong thing. Once we saw what we had we then ran to a nearby Kroger and bought up whatever we could. The fiddlehead ferns were from my garden and were included to honor my New Zealand mother. The bouquets were tied with twine and wrapped in burlap.

A-mazing start to finish! What love went into this, surrounding all of you. And that call from your DIL & son..... I'm plotzing <3

I don't know what plotzing is, but I think I'm doing it too!

Your dress is perfect, Annette. It's just right. Thanks for the pics!.

Now, THAT looks like a wonderful time. Memories for all of you, forever. Thanks for sharing with us!

Wow - what a long way you have come from that post where you were considering the black pants outfit and not sounding all that enthused about the whole thing. You and your friends did so much work, all so wonderful and you aren't even the mother of the bride! As I was looking at all this I was thinking you were - had forgotten it was your son getting married.

Until now I always think of you as the woman redoing the mountain cabin. Now you're also the wedding lady!

I can feel your happiness and it made my day! You and I both raised good boys, mine also called me on the way to their honeymoon. Didn't you feel incredibly blessed when that happened?

What a happy looking couple. Love the lace and the veil and the way they accent the simple lines of the dress. And no fear of walking through that grass in the dress - sounds like a couple with some adventure in them.

Lol well she did have custom Nike’s made (apparently that’s a thing).

Oh my! I love every single thing! You and your BFF’s did everything so right. Isn’t it wonderful to have that closeness that you just know you can come together and they will help pull it all off? And your new DIL! What a lovely thing getting that phone call from the airport, right?! She is a doll and you must be thrilled. Congrats to all.

Beautiful bride and groom! What a great idea to use the Language of Flowers. So glad it all went well despite the unavoidable snags. What wonderful memories!

What an amazing job you all did! It’s beautiful! Your son is so handsome and his bride so pretty. (Your daughter is gorgeous too). Looking at your pictures brought tears to my eyes as it reminded me of when my DD and her husband were married. I was so happy for the two of them, but secretly heartbroken that she was all grown.

You must feel so gratified. Truly love was in every detail and execution.

Wow, amazing amount of work for you and so wonderful that your friends saved your bacon :) everything looks amazing especially the bride and groom. They’re lucky to have your support!!

    Thank you for sharing Annette!

I loved seeing all the photo’s.

What a beautiful wedding. Your son and new DIL look so happy together and their kindness and thoughtfulness is incredibly touching. Congratulations on a wonderful event. And cheers to the Six BFFs who support one another with such style.

Thank you so much for sharing this gorgeous wedding with us. My boys are not quite at marriable age, but it's good to have MOG role models for me lined up.

PS You looked stunning in that elegant blue dress.

Ohhhh, everything was so lovely and sweet! Congrats to the happy couple !

What a beautiful wedding it was! Judging by the photos, it managed to have a casual air, while still coming across as a very classy event. Well done! I'm so glad it was a nice day for you all.

Everything looked amazing. I really enjoyed your photos, and what a great group of friends you have. Your dress was totally fabulous, too.

A few pics from the rehearsal dinner.

Wow Annette...everything is so stupendous and you are beautiful!

(Cried reading this. I'm such a weirdo)

Not a weirdo, penny. The girls and I have been re-living the entire event, tears and all.

Reliving the event! I remember doing that after DS#1's wedding. Almost, and I really mean almost, as much fun as the actual day.

Thank you so much for sharing all the pictures. What spectacular settings for both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding. Love the picture of the bride and groom with the barn in the background.
