Need updated reviews on Hallmark Flooring

I’m looking for some new reviews on Hallmark Flooring. We are looking at the Alta Vista Collection in Del Mar and have read a few poor reviews concerning water and oil stains and how easily these are staining the floors. The design company Studio McGee seems to use it a that time and I can’t imagine they would continue to do so we’re the flooring to come with so many problems.

Is this staining a common issue?
How does Hallmark stack up compared to other quality hardwood flooring companies?

We would like a wide plank lighter tone flooring that has a matte finish. We have two medium dogs that run around the house often; they will scratch any floor but I’m wondering if it will be as noticeable on a matte finish.

If you have this flooring, please tell me how it is standing up to everyday life and if you would recommend it for a whole house install.

BIG NO!! You will be in for a lot of trouble which no one can fix. Simple water dropped on floor will stain really bad. Forget about any oil based drips- you can catch it in 1 second and stained for life. We loved the floors with the matte look but now live with this mistake everyday. Manufacture nor install companies will “restore” as the claim to fame because it doesn’t work. Any where you install these that has potential to drop anything (water & any food along with any moisturize foot cream) you will have staining. To be honest- there should be a class action law suit against these floors. It’s not a snap of a finger to replace hard wood floors especially when thy are only 2 years old. I have seen floors 40 years old in better condition. Sorry for rant but we are victims ourselves!

If its an oil finished floor you will need to make sure you do all the maintenance for the flooring or you may have issues. A poly finish would require less maintenance and also be a little more durable.

Oak - can you recommend a poly finish engineered flooring that has a similar look to the Hallmark brand? Thanks so much! I am wanting the Alta Vista Malibu but some of these reviews scare me.

Same! I don’t know if the brand is that great. Apparently they have horrible customer service as well, particularly when there are issues.

Have you heard of the brand Purparket? The Bisque is very similar to Del Mar of Alta Vista.

Wow. So glad I found this thread. I am a super fan of Studio McGee and absolutely love all the wood floor installs they do (a lot of Hallmark). Looks like I will have to look elsewhere for a better product.

Mine were the Alta Vista historic walnut finish. I can’t comment on any other floor from Hallmark.

I went with Big Sur Alta Vista and they turned out great! More variation than I thought I wanted but has grown on me and now I love it.

Staining? Hell YES. I am so heartbroken over the condition of my floors after just 2 years. All that money. I wish I had done more research. I am trying to get some help from Hallmark Floors but they are not taking any responsibility. Their advertising claims "stain resistant" but they are not, more like stain magnet! And I dont have any children.

We’ve had Hallmark floors for 5 years now - Ventura collection, Mangrove, while very beautiful and doesn't show scratches, I am going to replace it because of the lingering smell. The smell is akin to the plastic smell when you open a new shower curtain. We notice it when we walk in the house and it’s in our bedding and clothes. I suspect it has to do with their proprietary ”Nu-Oil” UV baked staining/sealing. I’ve been researching and apparently the chemical limonene has a plastic smell but it seems near impossible to find out exactly what the flooring is composed of. Anyway, those are my thoughts on Hallmark Flooring
