“Someday” quilt top done!

Back in the January goals thread, Sharon mentioned making a list of Dreams & Ambitions. I have an ongoing list of projects broken down by tops to be quilted, projects in progress, projects on hand/kits, and “someday” patterns. I never find time to go beyond the first three sections and make one of those “somedays”, so my dream for 2019 was to finally make one.

This is Monterrey Medallion by Atkinson Designs. It’s 72 X 90 and is all from my stash.

Now it goes on the “to be quilted“ list. :)

If anyone would like the pattern email me at donnabrisbin at gmail dot com and I’ll send it to you. This is the “challenge” version. There is also an easy version. The pattern is three sizes (72” square, twin and queen) and there are a couple of bonus patterns using just the stars and just the woodpile blocks.

You deserve a big medal. To use that much of your stash is commendable. Making anything out of my stash just isn't going to get there. And, my stash is huge. And, this quilt is so complicated. Good work.

Goals, huh? Guess maybe I should look at that one of these days.

That is just beautiful! I would definitely keep it if I made it. You did such a great job of picking fabrics.

Donna, I'm so happy to know someone took that posting to heart. Making this 'someday' quilt was quite an ambition.......and you did it for yourself! It's beautiful! Thank you for sharing.

I'm speechless. Seriously that is one beautiful quilt and the fabrics you chose work so well. Do you plan to have it done by a long armer or try to do it yourself?

Thank you, everyone! I really like it, too. :)

Fran, I’ll quilt it on my frame. It will be a good warmup for the king-size top that’s been done for a couple of years.

Donna that's a honey - no way would I give that one up if I'd made it.

That's a great quilt, Donna. How fun to do a "someday" quilt. I have to finish my little wall hanging, quilt a top that I promised to a friend Saturday evening and finish a baby quilt before I can get to my "someday" quilt. It will happen soon though. I have all the fabric.

Thanks for all your kind words! It's not really a difficult pattern, just a great combination of blocks. The stars are made with the stitch-flip method, the woodpile blocks are just rectangles, and the border is Jacob's ladder blocks, which is squares & HSTs. The center star was probably the most challenging.
