Depends on which part of Arizona. Anything south of Phoenix bring on the tile because it's too darn hot to have carpet (except the rare snow days). I grew up in Phoenix, and now live in Texas; carpet evokes warmth and psychologically it makes me feel hotter when I'm in a carpeted room on a hot day.

But if you're in Phoenix the metro varies so much that I would consider your price point. My parents live in North Phoenix, a 1970s neighborhood. A lot of flips have only tile because it's cheaper for a flip. But if I went into suburbia Surprise or Glendale, I would more likely see carpet in the bedrooms and living room. And if I tottled over to Scottsdale, Anthem, or Carefree where the price point goes really high you might find a mix of both.

I can only speculate that Tucson and Yuma probably has possibilities.

The master closet: I have a feeling most people prefer carpet in there because they're likely to be in there with bare feet and carpet will be more comfortable? Perhaps if the master closet is big enough people will store things like luggage so they don't want it clammoring around on tile (our situation).

All in all if you really want to know, consult a realtor especially if you're going to be concerned about resale.

I love Arizona in the spring. people wouldn't think it's beautiful, but it is in its own way.

I would not choose carpet. Personally I would choose wood.
