Does anyone have Silestone Charcoal Soapstone, suede?

If anyone has silestone charcoal soapstone in suede finish as countertops, I would love to hear if you are happy with them. Do they read as charcoal or is there a blue tint to them at all? Have you had any issues with the surface? How do you clean/maintain them? Thanks for any assistance. (Pics of them in your home would be great if you feel like sharing). Here are pics of the sample we had (far right)

I have them and there is a slight green/blue tint mostly when in direct light coming through double pained windows. My windows go all the way to the counter and when they are open it's not as noticeable as when they are closed.

I am getting the suede charcoal for a game room but I am very interested in the beige color that you have next to it in your photo for bathrooms. Did you end up getting either? Do you like them?

Hi @User - how did your Silestone suede charcoal soaptone countertops turn out? We are considering same (really wanted Silestone’s Altair but is discontinued). Have any insights to share about any bluish tint? (Realize I’m a couple of years late to this thread, but hope you’re around to share)

When I had my kitchen redone a few years ago I chose Silestone charcoal soapstone in gloss (not suede). I love them. They look as good today as the day of installation❣️Easy to clean with soap and water, no chipping no scratching. I always use a trivet for any hot items, but have done that on all countertops I have had previously too. They have a slight bluish tint at certain times of the day in the sunlight. I love them and get lots of compliments on them.

Thank you @kculbers for sharing. Beautiful!! Appreciate the pictures, info and support/validation 😄

Just curious why you wouldn't go with the real deal soapstone. It's bullet proof and no maintenance and has a lovely feel to it.

Ah good question @julieste - we looooove quartz and it’s easier for us to source a quartz wannabe 😂 that isn’t black. Basically able to get the color choice we want without having to drive an hour plus to see and choose samples.

Wish we had easier sources in our area

I would say the Silestone Charcoal suede isn't exactly chip proof. I have an under mount sink and there are a few small chips around the edge in the front. I'm not banging pots and pans around when I clean them and I do have an oversized sink, so there is plenty of room, so I guess I blame the kids! haha.. thought those considering this material would like to know. I can upload a picture if requested.

Yes, please, @Ellen Nolan would live to see a picture of the counters. And thank you for the heads up about chipping.

This is the inside/front counter portion of the sink area.

    Thank you @Ellen Nolan.

So sorry they chipped on you.

I have the matte finish (suede) and it seems EVERYTHING stains the countertops. I am disappointed. While the countertop itself is gorgeous, I feel like I can‘t work in my kitchen without worrying whats touching the surface! 😡

@mtibbs thank you for the info! So disappointing because we are highly considering the charcoal soapstone due to it's reputation for being so bullet-proof, low maintenance etc. Now you and some of the other comments here have me wondering if we should just go with soapstone.... how to even decide?!

tepennels, Go with a polished finish and you'll be fine. The suede/matte finishes are the issue with quartz.

@tepennels we ended up getting the matte charcoal silestone and loved it. We have a small child and we found that the granite countertop cleaner worked really well to get smudges off. we mostly used Lysol all purpose cleaner spray (lemon breeze) and they stayed clean. here are a couple of pictures. we got the newest version of the matte finish which is greatly improved over the prior matte finish.

Rachel thank you for sharing your pictures and input about the Silestone charcoal suede counters. Your kitchen is really attractive. We demo our kitchen next week and the new island will have the charcoal suede.

Are you still finding the care is easy?

    Thank you!

Thank you @Ann McNamara! We actually moved. But the care was easy and straightforward once we found the granite counter cleaner worked.

And it was good for over a year

Hope you enjoy your new kitchen!

Thanks everyone for taking time to share your experience and pics. We are just about to order charcoal soapstone Silestone... dithering on gloss vs. suede. We are very messy and although I love the matte look... thinking polish is more sensible for us. We are doing white perimeter cabinets (BM Swiss coffee) with a dark stained island/Silestone White Storm counter for that. Hmmm... I think White Storm is available as Polished finish only. Do you think the perimeter and island countertops be the same finish? (either matte or polish?)

I can send you pictures after my counter install next week. I chose LG Viatara Muse polished for my perimeter and backsplash and Silestone Charcoal Soapstone suede for the island. I think you can mix the two finishes as it will add texture, but I can share more next week. I am a little concerned about the durability of the suede but have been reassured by the stone yard.

I have a sample of Silestone Charcoal Soapstone and I'd like to go with the suede option for my kitchen remodel. My house is in Los Angeles and I've contacted Costco as they work with Cosentino, but they haven't returned my call. Is there another company people have worked with that they can recommend for this?

    Home Depot

When I was looking for countertops and the charcoal soapstone in the mayte finish, home depot had a sample in their showroom that was very blue. I ended up going with another company because I couldn’t trust they wouldnt be that weird blue when they arrived. i love the color. Sometimes sponge wipes or glass rings show which is annoying but goes away.
