It isn’t the foyer light is off-center, your front door is off-center. Your builder is correct, IMO. Center the light with the room/ceiling, not the door.

To visually balance the foyer, if you place a console and sconce on the wall farther away from the door (hard to verbalize because there is no photo of whether the door is to left or right of the outside foyer wall) your eye will be tricked as to the off enter front door.

Thanks for the response. What about the view from the outside? The foyer light would be offset with the window about 18". (see pic with yellow line noting center point of room).

I am having the same issue some.people say center with door and window others say the room
