Help with Dining Room

last modified: 7 years ago

Hi! I'm needing help with what to do with the wall I have the three frames on. I am going to remove the console table as it's too small and then move my chandelier up about a foot. The dining room is narrow. I have 10' ceilings. What about the wall on the left? Any advice appreciated. Thank you!

    Tighten spacing

    Can you get more prints?

    Dark frames for the wall

Open up the small space with something reflective on the left wall like a mirror or mirrored objects. Add window treatments like Roman Shades.

Hint: If you want help with the wall on the left, you have to show it to us. ;-)

I think the chandelier could go higher, but I fear a foot is too high. Rule of thumb is bottom should measure about 32" from the table, but some rules need to be broken.

Kathryn, that's an interesting fireplace. It could be better styled, though, to play up the asymmetry and make it more interesting. Let me see what I can do.

    I agree! Thank you.

You might put the mirror on the wall opposite the fireplace to reflect whatever you put there. I would orient the mirror vertically, however.

Here's another idea for one of the walls. This room is light and airy, so plants seem like a natural fit.

Great ideas! I think it will help with the fireplace symmetry as well. Thank you for helping me!

Love BeverlyFLADeziner's suggestion for more prints & changing to black frames. How about combining that with a similarly clean, dark framed mirror on the left wall to open it up like Love Beauty Interiors suggested and, for the fireplace wall, a much larger, landscape piece of art?

And pls pardon my quick Photoshopping—the mirror and the prints would be great with the same height proportions

Hi, your space is contemperary. Like the look of it!

Large windows, stone fireplace surround, wood table top would resonate well with plants..

Extending the idea of using plants suggested above by groveraxle

you could do a gallery wall with small wall mount shelves with plants, artifacts &

probably b&w images for more contemperary vibe..( also b&w goes well with grey of your fireplace wall )

Also you could consider mixing light brown dark brown frames as your fire place surround looks like light brown in colour.

you would have dark brown picked from dining table, light brown from fire place surround & white from window trim colour.

    An inspiration image!

Also a picture showing both the dining table back wall & fireplace wall would give a more complete picture for everyone to suggest.

also a picture showing left & back wall together maybe..

I am fan of huge art, but not on this fireplace. It's so unique, I would want art that wouldn't overpower it.

Now I'm gonna disagree with everything everyone else has said. I like your white frames and I wouldn't do six of them. I would do four, arranged in a square, a bit closer than you have them now, centered on the current wall.

I raised your chandelier just a few inches (maybe six) and hung your mirror on the opposite wall.
