I got a sample of Valerie Pattern Plank for a herringbone floor at Wood Floors Plus, but can't find any reviews on the manufacturer, PanTim. I'm wondering if this is a non-toxic, quality product?

You will notice at the very bottom right hand corner = ECO Institut Tested.

That's all I need to know. The ECO Institut is a German testing facility that is the TOUGHEST in the world. They test as many as 100 random samples (usually 10 - 20 samples are all that are needed but some companies REALLY like to be sure). To achieve "ECO Institut" approval, you need ALL samples to test the same way. If one sample fails...the entire test fails. And you still have to pay the ENORMOUS bill.

This is one of the FINEST, most desirous testing company the world has. Even the Japanese use the ECO Institut...and the Japanese have HIGHER indoor air requirements than Europe.

With this stamp (which is VERY rare in N. America) I would not hesitate to use these products. The VOC content/off-gassing will be nothing more than "wood". A painted room will have more off-gassing than this floor.

Just wanted to pipe up that our PanTim Genuine French Oak/Palladio flooring is being installed now, and I am very happy with it thus far! (Palladio is their slightly wider version of GFO.)

I really wanted to float it, but my installer talked me into glue down (we're using Bostik GreenForce). So far, so good!

@Mittens Cat are you having any splintering along the bevel of your floor? we had Palladio in whiskey installed in June and we have tons of splintering and knots have broke out. We have a whole home humidifier so the relative humidity is not the issue. have you had any problems?

We are in the mid west. We have humidity control. We have had 3 inspections so far. We know of one other floor doing the same and it was glued down not stapled. The other floor is also the Palladio whiskey.

Update after being in our remodeled home for 4 months, just in case anyone's considering them:

I am absolutely in LOVE with our PanTim floors. It's the best part of our house. I stare at these planks adoringly many times a day! Still keeping an eye out for possibly splintering (per @NeDak's unfortunate results :( There have been a few dings here and there, but overall they have been great. For care, I gently vacuum using the awesome Dyson Animal cordless stick and occasionally wipe with a bit of Bona, but otherwise, easy peasy!

Glad your floors are working out, flooring is the biggest piece of furniture so it is important to get it right.

@NeDak, did you staple down your floors? Could it be a problem with the subfloor warping instead of the PanTim?

@HU-117879016, I paid about $7/SF (not including tax, labor, glue, transition pieces). A very good price for a high quality product, IMO.

@HU-842141939, absolutely satisfied! No splintering or anything. It has shocked me at how well it's performed for us. I love them! That said, know we have a cat, no dogs, so would be my only warning. Perhaps dog claws wouldn't result in the same satisfaction.

Hey all just wondering how the finish holds up over time? I would think prefinished will hold up longer than on site finis. Thought?
