killing wild violets with paintbrush and roundup

I had tried every spray and never could get rid of wild violets in my lawn. I don’t mind a few but they started patches and killed off whole sections of the lawn. I got a bottle of roundup and tiny art paint brush. Dip the brush in roundup and stroke it onto the leaves. Took a few weeks but eventually they all died. It did kill some of the grass around it but I reseeded last fall after dojng this and the new lawn looks better than ever and no wikd violets! It was annoying and back breaking but did the trick
